Emma felt her whole face go red as he brought up the letter. “I uh, i wrote that before we—before i—before you, yanno came over.”

“Aye” he nodded. “I figured that out” he explained softly. “Just wasn’t sure what I was meant to do”

“Well what do you think?” She asked, and it may have sounded mean but it was more her asking. Because she had no freaking clue

“I don’t know” he admit softly. “I mean, I want to keep talking to you. But I guess what I’m saying is do I have to write what I want to say to you in a letter? Or now we’ve met can we maybe go for a coffee and talk some time?”

Emma bit her lip at his words, trying to think about his words. Its not like she hasnt wanted to meet him but she felt forced into it and emma doesnt do good being forced into anything. “I —I  dont know.” SHe said, swirling her drink around. “You might not like me in person, im not exactly a ray of sunshine.” 

“Aye well I’m a convicted felon” he shrugged. “I’m not exactly the best option to hang out with” he knew this would be difficult but Emma’s letters had meant so much to him over the last few years he was determined . “I won’t rush you or anything. I’m happy to wait and see if you change your mind one day. That’s fine”

“How—how about you text me? You have my number yeah? That’s like the letters just. Faster” she tried to joke

“Yeah” he agreed with a nod. “Yeah that’s a good idea” he smiled and scratched behind his ear nervously

“Okay so…im going to get back to work” She said with a soft laugh. “Dont let this glass empty sir” She joked

“Alright” he smiled softly and refilled her glass. “Good luck and let me know if you need anything” he said before reluctantly seeing to other customers

Emma headed back to her seat in the back of the bar, trying hard to focus on the work she had to do

A few days later Killian managed to get the courage to finally text Emma, hoping their friendship could blossom once more

Emma happened to be laying in bed sick, once again, with her dog trying to watch some tv and relax. When her phone went off she hated that it brought a smile to her face. 

“Caught and sent back to the cage!”

“Well done! 🥳 I bet you’re already working on getting the next one?”

“If the next one is considered watching a bunch of tv and trying not to die” 

“You’re sick?? What’s wrong, love?”

“youve read my litters, you know that ive got a bunch of illnesses. THis is just a lil flair up” 

“You should’ve said! I’m not in prison anymore. I can help. Do you need anything? Supplies or medicines?”

“Hahah ive been doing this for a long time Jones, I’m okay. Just binge watching tv and trying not to vomit up my stomach 😂😂”
