// If DC writers ever tell me Tommy Elliot and Peyton Riley are not Colin Wilkes’ parents, they’re gonna get ignored on this blog and this is why:
First, there are obvious parallels in Heart of Hush that are meant to be drawn. Colin has a lot of the same issues as Tommy did/does and then obviously there’s the red hair and the fact that Colin befriends Damian Wayne who is the son of Tommy’s childhood best friend and current rival.
In Heart of Hush, they make a point of saying Colin is ten years old and then make a point of Tommy saying he met Peyton ten years before. Also, you can ignore the obvious similarities in looks (see this post) and I’m not just talking about hair. They have the same eyebrows, same nose, same mouth, same pretty much everything.
In HoH #5, in the flashback scene after Tommy killed his mother, Peyton says “You have everything you’ve wanted, Tom. Me, the money, and our way out— TOGETHER.” The word ‘together’ is bolded in the comic and could insinuate that if Peyton was pregnant, she knew already. Then, back in present time, Tommy states he left Peyton right after his mother’s funeral and he says to Alfred, “I told her I couldn’t stand to be tied down again and furthermore, if she ever tried to blackmail me, I’d take her down as well, mobster father be damned.” That alone would explain why Colin does not have the last name Riley or Elliot and why Tommy wouldn’t have been told about Colin by Peyton.
Now, you might say, “Well, in Lil Gotham, Sister Agnes gives Colin a picture that was with him when he came to the orphanage that had his mother in it and she looks nothing like Peyton.” Well, I have reasoning for that too. If Tommy was threatening her, and considering that her father is a mobster, she wouldn’t want Colin to have any sort of link back to her. She simply got someone else to take a picture with him, probably paid them to do so, and then put it with him when she left him on the doorstep of the orphanage so that if he ever did come looking for his parents, he’d have no real leads. He’d have a fake one that would get him nowhere and would never lead him back to Peyton Riley. She also assumingly has a lot of powerful connections and could have easily had any ties between Colin Wilkes and herself erased for any normal person who might be nosing around.
Bruce Wayne probably did find this information though, even though he tells Colin in Lil Gotham that he couldn’t find his parents. That’s bullshit. He’s Bruce Wayne. Even if he couldn’t find it, he has connections too, like Oracle. So why would he hide this information from Colin? He wouldn’t, unless there was something to hide. Like Tommy Elliot being his father.
