Hi guys! So I just hit 700 followers, and while that might not be a ton compared to some blogs or in the minds of others, it’s a pretty big deal to me! I figured I should make a follow forever because of it, because I appreciate the hell out of all of you (like seriously u have no idea how happy it makes me to see even one blog reblog more than 2 things from me lol). After finding out that Philando Castille was murdered by an Asian officer, I’m really going to need for y'all to address the anti-blackness within your communities

It’s not enough for you to reblog a couple of tweet threads and text posts that you’re just going to delete later anyways. The anti-blackness within your communities is killing us. You can’t separate yourself from the officer who did this. The same way white people are held accountable as a whole, non-black people need to be to.

I’m gonna say, being Asian, anti black sentiment is not limited to white communities. and it’s fucked up. I’m right there with you. we are so anti black we don’t like any semblance of blackness in our people. the natural tan we have is seen as ugly and women and men are ranked by the fairness of their skin and it’s beyond fucked up. the anti blackness in our community is fucked up, and has been killing our people (women regularly bleach their skin which leads to higher levels of mercury, or are rejected from marriage proposals and have committed suicide) and now it’s killing black people, and I’m deeply sorry. I’m so sorry. there is nothing more I can say, but I’m gonna say this, it’s fucked up and I’m gonna keep pushing in any way I can, the idea that the anti blackness in our community is fucked and I will try my hardest to stand up for you guys in that space. the “model minority” stereotype is really difficult to navigate in majority white spaces, and it’s not an excuse, but I can see how an Asian officer got caught up in the idea of being a piece of the group, and our culture has enforced the anti blackness that allows these murders to happen. I want to tell you sorry, I’m sorry that a cultural idea that has always disgusted me, had a hand in something so horrendous. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.
