first of all, i’m sorry for being inactive over here !!
somehow i still managed to break my next hundred, so thank you all for that. this muse has just been dead as hell for the past few weeks — i apologize to everyone who’s waiting on replies. i’m not deleting this account, or abandoning it, for that matter, but i probably won’t be getting any writing done for a while.
my raven muse is going strong, though, so i encourage y’all to hit me up there for plotting and writing and general shenanigans in the meantime.
tattoos are ( were ) a rarity on the ark–and from what dean knew about the process, it was grueling. long. bloody, too, he’s heard. must be worse down here on the ground. “those the only ones you got?”
❛ No. ❜ Coal-black shapes ink the landscape of his skin — his arms, hips, a geometric roadmap tracing the length of his spine; a small handful of Skaikru had more than a glimpse during his torture. But his impassive tone is tempered with sincere curiosity. ❛ You’ve never seen tattoos before ... ? ❜
the 100 meme [7/7 characters] → lincoln
i only have muse for extremely short threads right now — like 99% dialogue — because prose is a struggle and my attention is elsewhere. i’ll try to tackle longer things later !!
❛ he’s scared, lincoln. they’re all scared.❜
❛ They should be. This isn’t a fair fight, Octavia — if they stay, they’ll be slaughtered. You need to LEAVE. ❜
startswithfire liked for a thing.
“–did those hurt?” he’s referring to the tattoos peeking out of the top of lincoln’s shirt, hand pointing towards his own neck for more clarification.
❛ Not as much as you’d think. ❜ Or maybe he’d coasted through on pure adrenaline; either way, pain is subjective. ❛ After a while, you barely feel it. ❜
“defective fucking chicken feet. you have it for like a second and then it just goes into claw mode” - startswithfire about me trying to point my toes
❛ great. so, you wanna tell bellamy that, or should i?❜
❛ I could. That doesn’t mean he’ll LISTEN to me. ❜
Words mimic his internal dialogue. The advice and reassurances seem to anticipate his failure while masking as wishful thinking. Bellamy nods absentmindedly as his mind preoccupies with the plausibility of what-ifs; before any could settle into consciousness, he collects his thoughts ( there is more to worry about ). and suppresses the momentary doubt. The reward and victory outweighs the risk ( his people will always be worth the risk ) so he continues.
“We should keep going .”
It isn’t Bellamy’s failure that concerns him ( they know what’s at stake, know exactly what needs to be done and what they stand to LOSE ); it’s much more insiduous than that. A clawing sense of dread making his skin crawl, giving raw nerves a serrated edge. He hasn’t stepped foot anywhere near the Maun since he was taken by the RED. And if there’s a raiding party, if something goes wrong, if he slips up — that’s what concerns him. That’s what terrifies him.
But he doesn’t say it. Can’t allow himself to even think it, because doubt is a slow-acting poison and they can’t afford to waste that kind of time. This HAS to work.
❛ — once we get to the tunnels, I need to blend in. Have you hunted before? ❜
“ Octavia does. ”
Clarke’s eyes couldn’t meet Lincoln’s as she spoke the name of the woman he loved. The girl who now looked at Clarke with such distain it made her hate herself.
“ And Jasper… ”
It was almost a croak as she swallowed, the memory of her broken friend sobbing over the burnt body of his beloved Maya. Clarke shook her head, still looking past him instead of meeting his gaze.
“ They will be fine without me. ”
❛ ... they’ll come around. Just give them time. ❜
Whether or not there’s any TRUTH to that, she needs to believe it. Octavia is stubborn, angry; Jasper, like all of them, is grieving. Yet he’s seen the magnitude of the Skaikru’s loyalty — it can be shaken, rocked to its very foundations, but it can’t be broken. She NEEDS to believe that it can’t be broken.
When he speaks again, his tone is unfaltering. Resolute.
❛ They’ve lost enough already, Clarke. So have you. ❜
“ They came to wage a ( w a r ) The sky people have acted in actions of such wickedness, injuring our people, killing our people, and yet, you continue defending them. Why? ”
❛ Because they didn’t CHOOSE to come here, and you heard what Clarke said — their soldiers will follow. You think we’re at war now ... ? It’s nothing compared to what’ll happen if we’re still fighting when the rest of their people arrive. Don’t do this, Anya. ❜
He wait a moment to respond, to study the warrior’s reaction as he did so. It was the truth, he wanted to figth by their side, his people always wanted a chance to fightand diein battle. But he was not sure they would not sold them out.
“How do I know that I can trust you?”
His focus doesn’t waver; it’s a fair question, and not wholly unexpected. But as far as a CONVINCING argument goes, there isn’t much more to say that he hasn’t said already.
❛ The Maun is a threat to all of us. And we need as many allies as we can get. ❜
teiga does not usually interact with people unless she is sending a message or she knows them. but this man intrigued her. he reminded her of somebody, and for some reason, teiga found herself wanting to make this man safer. so she approaches him cautiously. “have you heard about the sky people?”
He hasn’t ventured that far north himself, but the Azkru have a distinct aura about them; one that makes it BLATANTLY clear that their reputation isn’t just hearsay. Despite a lack of threat in her approach, his posture’s guarded. Wary.
❛ — osir hogeda don. Isn’t that why you’re here? ❜
“ I can’t do any of this without him, Lincoln. “
and that was all that she could bear to say, for the tears pooling in her eyes were starting to grow heavy at the though. there had to be some other way. absolutely had to be another way. clarke had feelings for finn, even if she wasn’t ready to tell him that. what they shared that night, it would be dumb of her not to have anything for him. yes, she’s still angry, but he was more than just that to her. they’d gotten this far because of him.
“ Is there any other way? At All? “
❛ You have to understand. Lexa’s position, it’s — ❜
He has to stop, casting for the right words like an easy response might be conjured from thin air.
❛ If she shows him mercy after what he did, they’ll take it as a sign of weakness. And a heda CAN’T be weak, Clarke. Even if she wanted to let him live ... ❜ A pause; a leveled exhale. ❛ — it’s not gonna do any good, but I can try talking to her. ❜
Another RISK, yet it pales in comparison: if not for Clarke and her mother, he wouldn’t still be alive.
It’s the least he can do.
