On Saturday, February 9, Chef Erik Bruner-Yang will be teaching a cooking class for Chinese New Year at the Hill Center at the Old Naval Hospital. He will be demonstrating on how to create four meals out of one chicken:

  • Chinese fried chicken
  • Chinese chicken dumplings
  • Chinese barbecue wings,
  • Chinese chicken broth.

At $85 a piece, these are a great holiday gift for the food enthusiasts in your life. Be quick though, space is limited to 15 attendees.

Toki Underground chef-owner Erik Bruner-Yang is hosting a slew of fellow University of Mary Washington grads and entrepreneurs at a one-day only POP-UP SHOP on Sunday, December 9th from 12pm to 5pm.

FORAGE owners Megan Parry and Alicia Austin will sell a mix of vintage and current label clothing as well as handmade jewelry and accessories. The girls are culling their collections to bring DC the coolest, most unique pieces from their brick + mortar shop in Fredericksburg, VA (par example: there's a baby pink flouncy leather Phillip Lim mini skirt and a 70s magenta deep v silk jumpsuit that are TDF). Megan and Alicia will also be selling their own handmade friendship bracelets, ponytail holders and magnets (all perfect stocking stuffers that are super easy on the wallet).

Local artist J.Coleman will be selling original prints made specifically for the pop-up. Sara Gossett will have handmade greeting cards on hand and Marie Snyder of Luna Rosa jewelry will have handmade fabric earrings and resin rings.

There will be a bartender on-hand slinging drinks for those who prefer to shop tipsy (and really, who doesn't?). Remember, there won't be any food service; you'll have to get your sustenance from sake, sequins and cashmere.

Prices start at $3. All major credit cards and cash accepted.
