Friendly reminder that while Darquesse is supposed to have first appeared in Valkyrie's mind only since book 4 (Dark Days) and after, usually when Valkyrie was in danger to either to keep them both alive or take advantage of Valkyrie to make her give her control over their shared body, there is an instance as far as the first book during which Valkyrie, while in a car crash, hears a voice in her head. I have a theory that Darquesse had already started evolving a separate consciousness from Valkyrie as far as book 1 in the series and this was her first attempt at communication. It didn't seem suspicious to Valkyrie even after the whole Darquesse thing, given that Darquesse spoke a lot more often in the later books and this was a singular, at the time, event which wasn't repeated until Dark Days. She thought it was just her own head. In a way, she was right.
