PSA:
Just because I’m not replying to our thread, or your starter doesn’t mean I don’t want to roleplay with you. I’m just slow. Somedays I can write a fucking book, somedays I can’t even write my own name. It’s in the drafts I promise I am just slow as hell.
He won’t deny it: seeing Maki in high spirits brings Naoya a certain sense of release, too. She’s alleviated of her sickly toils; he, the fraying, pervasive sensation of both unease and worry for her welfare. He won’t admit it aloud, but her time away from their high school fraternity had been something of a loss - not just to everyone else, with Masao in the especial, but himself as well. It’s good to have her re-joining the ranks.
Now then, whereabouts should he take her without appearing too secretive of the celebration in the offing?
"Good riddance to all of that hospital grub, right?" Naoya can only imagine what a year-long endurance of nothing but the barest of nutrients is like. It’s a diet that has kept Maki going all this time, but nonetheless he finds it hard to believe that one would not inadvertently shed a few pounds on nothing but rice, vegetables, and fish.
"In the mood for a float or a parfait? How about we stop by Peace Diner on the way back?" He’ll probably have to keep an eye on what she eats in the meantime; the others are awaiting at home with cake and confectioneries— and even a grill, it seems. "I’ll treat you."
While she's absolutely ecstatic about how this day is turning out, she's still curious about how her mother couldn't pick her up. Could have sworn she was going to be off today. Oh well, at least she gets to spend time with Naoya. Maybe after she gets back home to check up on her mother she can try to contact her other good friends. She's been dying to hear from them for a while.
"You bet." The same, flavorless meal over and over again finally comes to an end. Half of the time she didn't even know what it is the nurses would bring her. Whatever it was it never settled well with her. The whole hospital never did really. Blank stares from nurses, fake reassurance from doctors, and hallways either hollow or filled with others in the girl's similar state. Only felt like she was getting worse by each day spent there. Now she can finally have the honor of enjoying a worthwhile burger and natural sunlight beating down on her.
"Really?!" And so a gleam comes into Maki's eyes after hearing the gracious offer. Oh yes, a parfait would be perfect right now. She'll try her best to contain herself from getting too much though since Naoya's treating her. "Sounds great! Thanks!"
The first pink flicker of spring tide settles upon the tranquil streets of Mikage-cho, alighting before the toe of Naoya’s loafer. Subtly does it occur to him that henceforth, the picturesque whiffle of cherry blossom petals are something to revel in, proof of sheltered tranquility and the promise to a future of free will. There’s something to rejoice in the transience of the blossoms, the witnessing of glory and quick death symbolic of fate. After all, unlike the petals, ever fated to mortality—
Maki Sonomura seems to have finally decided not to be withered away by illness.
When Naoya arrives before room 302 of Mikage Hospital, he finds the door left slightly ajar. Just beyond it, the shuffle of feet fussing quietly about indicates a reassuring presence; he can ascertain his childhood friend from sound alone. He lightly raps his knuckles twice against the door. Slinging his schoolbag coolly across a shoulder, he then gently eases the partition the rest of the way and invites himself in.
"Hey. Something came up for your mom, so I’m supposed to be your escort home in her place." Of course, he couldn’t simply give away the fact that the elder Sonomura had to stay behind in order to make preparations for the surprise party. "All set to go?”
For once the view from her window isn't some cruel reminder of her condition. In fact, it's breathtaking today. She'd like to open the window so she take it all in. Instead though she admires it from her bed. A comfortable sigh is let out as she gazed outside, sitting on her bedside with delicate hands resting on her lap.
Maki did it. She actually was able to fight through her illness and come out healthy enough to be released. Right when the doctor gave the new of her dementia lessening significantly, she's been up and about waiting to go back home. The overwhelming feeling of freedom is Now she can finally do as she pleases. After settling with her mom, she's got her hopes that she can run into her close friends. Yet it doesn't really feel like it's been a while since she last saw them.
Her head turned to the door when hearing someone come by her room. But instead of it being her mother, it was her dear friend Naoya. What a pleasant surprise. Although she's a bit curious about where her mother is.
"Alright." She gave him a nod before jumping off her bed. A final glance around of the grey patient room was taken before turning back to him. "All set!" Her voice was so cheerful now you'd hardly think that she used to be in such a critical condition.
"……………do you really want to know about them?" - that question sounded more like a warning. If he will tell Maki about everything, that would only make things worse. There’s gotta be a way to explain shortly, no matter what.
"…..well, I think that the turning point occurred ten years ago. I was at Araya Shrine, just going for a walk with…" - no, don’t tell her about others!
"…with my elder brother. Then I remember fire, lots of flames coming from the shrine. I’m not sure what caused such an event, but I was scared of it. My brother told me later that somebody set it on fire, and that there was a victim inside the shrine." - that was all about trauma.
"My father works as a policeman. He tried to investigate that case, and he almost succeeded. However… He was removed from investigation because of some influential man. I think that he wanted to hide that incident for some reason, but I don’t know which one exactly. After that I was disappointed in my father, maybe because he didn’t try hard…
…and that is all about the stress. Anything else?”
The sudden change of tone in his voice made her stiff, her full attention on what he just said. Well yes she needs to hear whatever a patient can tell about their condition no matter what. However, that odd feeling of uncertainty she last felt when Tatsuya walked inside the building came back. Just what about this young man is causing this feeling?
He sounds hesitant once again as soon as he goes off about his memories. Of course the topic must be hard for him to detail but she's surprised he even agreed to go on. Her pen tip rested on her notes, awaiting for any important points to jot down.
A tilt of her head came from noticing that pause before Tatsuya mentioned about his brother. Now usually she'd want to press on certain subjects to get a better view, yet it just might be that Tatsuya is letting out only certain points of his trauma. So be it then. The tension in the room is thick already after all. Wouldn't do any good to press further. She kept note of all he was mentioning, keeping her writing in pace with his speech.
An act of arson in Araya Shrine with a victim inside. Accompanied by older brother. Father was a officer investigating it but was taken off the investigation. Influential man?
She sat her pen down on her clipboard, meeting her eyes with Tatsuya's. He's been through a lot, that's for sure. Not only witnessing a horrible sounding incident but also having a conflicting relationship with his father. No wonder he's how is now. But regardless, she can still tell that this may not be the whole truth. Maybe asking more about this incident might let out the truth. "I just want to clarify something things. It was just you and your brother who saw the fire right? Neither of you saw the vitcim or the man who started the fire?"

"Every customer is special, that’s one of the many slogans at my shop." He pointed upward in a matter of factory tone, Returning the chipperness like a contagion. "There’s two different kinds as well the standard room with the water and the rocks and a room with sand you bury yourself in it and relax." He took pride in his sauna as it was one of the popular things in his shop.
Then suddenly a black cat crosses by. “Oh here’s another worker, this is my partner Blaze, cause that birthmark on his head.” The feline looked her over cautiously before preaching himself on the knelling fool’s shoulder.
Now she's all the more enticed by the sauna. And to think that all fits in this one shop. He wasn't kidding when he said the place is bigger on the inside. "I think I'll be relaxing there for a while then!" She's never lounged in sand before so maybe she can try that. Saunas back home don't have that so why not?
Her eyes lit up when seeing the feline. Oh yes, the cat from when she encountered Grey at the park. Such a cute kitty. She really wanted to pet him. Instead she gave him a little wave. "Hello Blaze~!"
He chuckled in response to her thanks before accepting it. It was a sign of respect in many cultures right? “No need to thank me, it’s my job after all. And you got the room with a window there’s only two of those~” He joked fondly glad someone enjoyed the small rooms, ”Oh there a downstairs down the hallway where the sauna is if you like to use it, sauna hot spring same thing. Need anything just use that phone and hit one to call the front desk, two calls the kitchen , three calls my bedroom. It’s all next to the phone.”
Maki let out a chuckle as well. "How delightful! I certainly feel special then!" Someone's certainly chipper. Always like that when talking to someone with enough pep in them. Her eyes lit up at the mentioning of a hot springs. "Oooh, I have to go check that out!" It'll be an interesting experience to go into a hot springs in America. Probably will be different than the ones back home. She soon gave a nod in understanding. "Gotcha."
"Alrighty, now I’m gonna give you the first room as it’ll be easier, you’ll be close to the living room the bathroom is in your room accompanied with a shower. And there’s a mail slot in your room where I’ll send you a paper like menu where you can write down what you like for dinner." He spoke as he took her to her room. "Here you are."
Maki kept giving nods as she took all the information in. He's certainly got everything set and ready to go. Already better service than that other hotel. Gotta remember however to check out of the there so her mother doesn't panic. When she saw the room her smile widened. Nice place, definitely.
"It looks lovely! Thank you so much!"
"It’s no problem." Minato answered with a light shrug. It’s not like he and Yu had anything else to do at that particular time. Looking back at her again from the corner of his eye, he got the same vibe from before. It wasn’t a one-time occurrence after all? What was it about her that felt so…familiar?
Then she answered his partner which prompted him to speak up in turn. “Is that so? Did you just move here?”
"Alright then! Let's get going!" Maki exclaimed, making her way down the block. Now if she can just remember how she left the inn certainly she won't end up getting her and the others going in circles. Directions weren't really on her mind however as much as the blue-haired person she oddly stared at before. Maybe it was just the hair style that tipped her off. Maybe.
"Oh no, I'm just a visitor. Taking a much needed vacation after a whole lot of studying and tests. I'm staying at a nearby inn." Took some convincing from her mother but she finally got to see brand new places. Kinda wish Chisato or her other friends joined her.
smile!
"Maki you shouldn’t flirt with me your a guest! and then what if welikeeachotherandstuffthatwouldinterferewithyourdreamandIcan’tdolongdistancerelationshipsand *GasP* He kinda had a small breakdown but calmed himself before he fainted. He then took a long pause before regaining his posture. "Sigh…That was an ordeal, I’m glad you like them my mom taught me how, but never the less I should at least show you your room right? are you ready to see it?"
He pumped his fist ready and awaiting for her decision.
So that happened. Maki's just kinda standing there, ever so confused by his actions. What was he going on about before though? Talked so fast it passed right by her. Hopefully it wasn't anything important. Seemed like it if he'd suddenly breakdown like that. Thank goodness he picked himself up soon, otherwise this situation would be a lot more awkward.
"You bet!" She answered with a smile. Got a feeling the room's gonna be as neat as the rest of this place.
