It’s interesting how first and second generation (etc) poc immigrants in America say “I’m American”. In the UK if you’re a poc you don’t say you’re English. In fact hardly anyone says they’re British unless they’re filling out a form. It’s “I’m from [ethnic origin] but I live in [city]” or “I’m [ethnicity] but born and raised in [city]”. Or maybe it’s just the area I’m in and that’s the way it is only here I don’t know, but that’s just what I’ve observed and it’s interesting.
Not just America but poc I’ve met from Australia, France, Canada, Scandinavian countries etc
In germany its the same. Poc don't say they are german, they just add which city in germany they were raised or live in. And IF one says they are german, then they almost always get asked where they're "really" from
