Angela had the idea to organize a bonfire for the team. To get rid of all the recycling in the lab and also to fire her pottery. This cold autumn night was perfect for the bonfire. As the others were wandering around helping Angela with her pottery you were sat contently by the fire.

You breathed out contently as you closed your eyes, listening to the cracking of the bonfire and the sound of crickets in the distant woods. The warmth of the fire warming your chilled bones.

*crunch*

You squinted your eyes shut more, trying to drown out the sound. 

*crunch*

Sighing you tried to focus your ears on the sound of the fire.

*crunch*

“Aubrey”

“Yeah?” he asked innocently

“Shut up”

“What am I doing?”

“You are eating really loud” you sighed, your eyes still shut.

….*crunch*

Opening your eyes and glaring at him he stared at you with a fear stricken face, his mouth full of smores “What?”

“How could you possibly be eating something mostly made of marshmallows so loud?” you asked incredulously

“It’s a talent?” 

Sighing you tried not to smile at his annoying innocence, closing your eyes again you wrapped your shawl tighter around you. Unaware of the smirk on Aubreys face as he purposefully bit roughly into the graham cracker covered smore.

Opening one eye and looking at him you saw him quickly hide his smirk, opening your other eye you stared at him “You’re doing it on purpose”

“What? No, why would I do that? The graham cracker is just loud. Why don’t you come eat one? If you don’t I could eat all of them by myself” he said before taking another unusually loud bite. 

You glared at him “I don’t want a smore” you said, mostly honestly. You loved smores, you just didn’t want to give him the satisfaction. 

“Then what do you want?” he asked curiously

“Honestly, I want to throw you in the bonfire right now” you said keeping your tone as serious as you could.

He stared at you for a moment before smirking. Standing he walked across the seating area and sat next to you “Take one” he said opening the marshmallow bag for you to get one.

Sighing you let yourself smile lightly and took a marshmallow out of the bag, you saw Aubrey smile at you. Taking the stick he was handing you you put the marshmallow on the end and stuck it near the flames. 

“Why do you like to annoy me Aubrey?” you asked watching the marshmallow slowly brown in color.

He smiled “No reason” You gave him a hard look which he replied with a not so innocent smile “Okay, okay” he leaned closer to your ear to whisper to you “You’re cute when your annoyed”

Turning to look at him, your face was directly in front of his. Noticing his eyes wonder down to your lips your heart began to beat faster. Leaning in slowly his lips met yours. When he pulled away you both became aware of the person standing near you. Turning your heads you see Angela smirking down at you.

“It’s about damn time” she said before turning and walking away

Looking back at Aubrey you smiled, which he returned before gently taking your face in his hands and kissing you again.
