amir locke was only 22 years old when he was murdered by the minneapolis police department. the morning of 02/02/2022 he was asleep on a couch, vulnerable and wrapped in a blanket. he was comfortable and warm.

amir was startled awake by the police barging into the apartment unannounced, only screaming once they were inside. amir grabbed his legal firearm, and was shot multiple times before he even had time to pull the blanket off of himself. it only took nine seconds to kill him.

to be black and simply exist is a radical act in the face of white supremacy, punishable by execution. his name was amir locke and his life had VALUE. he mattered. say his name.

black lives still matter

Amir Locke was a Black man living in Minneapolis unfairly killed by the police. As you might guess, he was essentially killed for being Black.

I can’t stand this anymore.

I am desperate to make this stop. I can’t take this any longer. I already feel scared when I go outside and the police scrutinize my Black body.

Justice for Amir Locke.

Amir Locke was shot and killed by the Minneapolis Police this Wednesday (2/2/2022)

He was a 22 year old Black man who was sleeping on a family member’s couch when the police entered the apartment and shot him within nine seconds.

Like in the murder of Breonna Taylor, the police had a no knock warrant. The warrant was for an arrest related to a murder case and Amir was not named in. The initial MPD press release called Amir a “suspect,” which they’ve stopped saying, but the first thing they tried to do was demonize him.

Amir was sleeping with a firearm which he was in legal possession of. He reached for it when the cops woke him up by entering the apartment shouting and shining bright lights on him. Before he was fully awake, MPD officer Mark Hanneman killed him.

Justice for Amir Locke

Edit: corrected the spelling of Breonna Taylor’s name. Thank you @dr0wnedperfectionist for seeing it.
