Sketch vs Final
Looking at this now, I can see where it went but at the time I was making this I was feeling decidedly un-visionary. I struggle with that as much as the next artist. A lot of time was spent flipping through my reference folders hoping that a color scheme and a composition would pop out at me from some other unrelated work. The little window of light at the top of the earlier progress shots was added in a desperate attempt at stealing a composition from a Beksinski painting. Gladly, that didn't stick. As the painting progressed, I was able to develop a dynamic composition on my own without having to borrow from my influences.
