Working away while fighting a cold, with a couple tissues clogging the faucet that is my nose rn. With that and the news, I’m just feeling gross all around- soooo hey! Check out this super positive fun piece for Shameless, about one woman’s journey in using media to reclaim her definition of beauty.

Been designing a book cover… For a game! When @jimmyellerth commissioned me to design the cover art for his game Hero: Tales of the Tomes, I knew it was going to be both a challenge and a delight– and I was not wrong. This tome is all constructed from painted paper, which is a prop we’ll now be using for upcoming events along with the box art. Want to play a card game steeped in lore, crushing gameplay, a smidge of roleplaying, and some great illustration? 😉 Snag a copy for yourself by pledging on Kickstarter! Live now through August 31st.

#JustSlayerStuff . Season 1, Episode 4: Teacher’s Pet So I’m a bug lady, (not like Ms French, I just like bugs,) but this episode is looooow on my list. Xander has his first thing with a demon lady, and it’s the substitute teacher/a giant praying mantis. Womp womp. That’s life on the Hellmouth. I almost painted the mantis eggs for this episode, but we don’t really get a good look at them, and just, come on. THAT MONSTER PUPPET. I know my praying mantises, and let me tell you, they had fun changing things up with that monster design. I especially love the weird, fly-like eyes they gave her??? Such an interesting choice. 🐛👀🐛.

Guess who had a blast looking up reference photos of beautiful typewriters for this cover?  New work for BenefitsPRO. These are from my story over on my instagram, figured it would be fun to show a peak at the process over here too. If deadlines weren’t such a thing, I’d take more pictures when I’m painting. Maybe next time. For now, a cover and some interior spots!

For Just Slayer Stuff:

Season 1, Episode 3: The Witch.

There are only seven episodes of Buffy with no vampires, the first being just three episodes into the series, and that’s cus we’re talking bout witches! (And cheerleaders. Cheerleading witches.) Spoilers I guess, but my favorite part of this episode is always the final reveal of our witch being trapped in the cheerleading trophy. Nothing quite like ending an episode on an extreme close-up of CGed eyes on a cheapo trophy prop. To be fair, I had a trophy from the one atrocious year I tried waving pompoms myself, and i think the proportions of my little plastic cheerleader were just as weird, despite her being, to my knowledge anyhow, un-possessed. 👹🏆👹

Season 1 Episode 2 of “Just Slayer Stuff” : The Harvest.

The first appearance of Buffy’s Hope Chest! Early on in the show it’s so fun to watch the writers subvert all the usual tropes, and play with the dichotomy of being a teenage girl and being the slayer. I don’t think anyone really has hope chests anymore (???) but I still love the reveal when Buffy lifts up the top to reveal her slayer stash. Serious question though: do we ever work garlic and communion wafers into slaying?? Missed opportunities my friends.

So I’m a little late posting this here (Nowadays I’m posting most of my stuff over on my instagram.) But! I just discovered the amazing, the incomparable, Buffering the Vampire Slayer podcast, and have been listening nonstop. Between projects I thought it'd be fun to do little paper props from Buffy episode by episode. And here we are. Sooo first up, Season 1, Episode 1: "Welcome to the Hellmouth." We see a close up of the iconic "Vampyr" book for all about three seconds. It's so over the top, it's SO obviously a prop, I absolutely adore it. Giles agrees.

Sooooo I recently finished the Uncharted series, and I've been all aflutter about the game lore ever since. The series revolves around collecting treasure, but the super special, shiny thing you're looking for is almost always representative of a ✨bigger idea✨.  I could wax lyrical about it all day, but in the final game, I especially loved how the Saint Dismas cross tied back into the narrative of Nate and his brother-- where they came from and who they are, and the final choices they have to make.  ANYHOW, for any of those not fans of the series, here's some Christian iconography in a burning pirate ship. Also featuring the dirtied up hands of @jimmyellerth because I'm trying to mix some reality into my papercraft worlds. Also, also, some close up shots, because you better believe I’m gonna show off the details when I make this intricate of a set.

Moving some more things into the new place, and look what was delivered to my door! Here's just a peak at some of the work I did for this January's issue (on my new hardwood floor.)
