Ages ago, I met @travislittle at a Tribeca Talks where the director of “12 Years A Slave” was participating in a Q&A. A few weeks later, I called him down to Tribeca one morning and watched him recite one of my favorite pieces by him.

Can we talk about that one time she called a guest out at her concert and told her to sit her butt back down after she tried to leave?
Apparently she was good friends with David Bowie...which earned Bowie like 1,000 cool points! After getting word that he was in the audience at one of her concerts, she simply walked center stage and asked him to show himself.
As a self-proclaimed protest singer, Nina made it her goal to emphasize the beauty in blackness and wanted to compel us to explore our history. Props.

This moment is one of my absolute favorites. After which she spoke more about knowing that was blessed with the gift of music by God since she was born. Amen!
