A young, smart aleck, trouble-making ensign. Sel was invited to study in order to join Starfleet after a rare genetic abnormality developed in adolescence. Her estranged father Hhel’d was a first generation Klingon-Vulcan hybrid and Sel’s disability is the product of forewarned-against genetic disaster. Being one of the fist discovered second-generation offspring to develop such a mutation, an invite was extended on behalf of a starfleet medical board to join on the condition that she be surveyed on her condition and agree to experimental treatment- the only treatment to be developed. The infusions and therapy keep her around to bug the everliving snot out of the crew, but aren’t enough to cure her symptoms. (which very much resemble that of painful human autoimmune syndromes) Of course, Sel takes it like a Klingon.

Magic Man is very much like Q from Star Trek. He has supernatural powers, and seems to be near-omnipotent. He shows up out of nowhere, causes trouble, and then leaves, and there’s not much that Finn and Jake can do to stop him. Just like Q.
