//Well, it could be a death-knell, honestly. We were able to adapt to the 'Institute of War isn't canon' by writing The Bastion and adapting to a world without it, but I don't think anyone's recovering from this. Me, mostly, because I'm laughing so hard.

//May I point out the actual funniest thing about this decision is that the games 'League of Legends' and 'Legends of Runeterra' are now non-canon. The only thing that's real and important to Riot Games is the 6 episodes of a netflix TV show and the 6 episodes that are planned for season 2. (Sidebar, there will not be a season 3 of Arcane. Netflix will cancel the show after 2 seasons, like it does for everything else.)

Sure, it was bad when they cut out the entire conceit of their videogame for the sake of a Cool GoT-based storyline. But this is so bad it's wrapped around to being hilarious.

Arcane is canon? So that means: Piltover and Zaun? Canon. Noxus? Canon. Demacia, Shurima, Targon, Ionia, the Shadow Isles, the Freljord? Not canon. The Harrowing? The vastaya? The darkin? Not canon.

Divergence is not canon. The Ruined King is not canon. Every short story they've written? Every flavour text for skin and card? Everything Riot has ever made? Not canon.

//Riot Games has decided that none of their games matter, or even are real anymore. And that's funny as hell.

In the middle of all that is done for the Harrowing preparations, there is a day of pause. Not quite a memorial, but certainly an observance. Most businesses close for the day. including the Commissary. Blackout curtains are drawn, and every light is extinguished, and no flags or banners fly.

Caitlyn stands in the reconstructed evidence locker. There is little here, now, to show it was ever the site of an explosion, a collapse, the near-death of one of Piltover's Finest. Justice denied; a terrorist and her slaughter gone unpunished. Ten years. Ten years since an X replaced a C in the most important case in Caitlyn's workload, a case which will - due to red tape and politics - remain forever open.

It takes Vi's gentle arm around Caitlyn to pull her away, to bring her back out of the basement and back into the crisp grey autumn.
