Here is food for thought. As easy as it is for people to belittle what ‘thoughts and prayers’ can do for others, why don’t we think about what we lose by knowing complete strangers are thinking and praying for us during times of tragedy? You get no monetary gain, but you lose that much more hate in your heart for humanity knowing there is still compassionate people out there. Let the love in. Don’t post memes like a dumpster truck with “Thoughts and Prayers” written on the back of it and demanding that we do more. Sometimes small things matter. As a person currently living a tragedy, simple words can be a great way to remind us to keep going and keep positive. Don’t let the hate steal the ability to love that is in your heart. If you genuinely gain more compassion out of of the negativity, then that is something valuable that is gained from this terrible time. I’m choosing love, compassion, prayers and positive thoughts. Don’t belittle what are able to give. If you can give more, give more. Don’t let it be an opportunity to stand on a pedestal to spit on people offering condolences.. That is not progressive, it’s counterproductive in a situation where people need hugs over executive orders over their feelings.. Do something kind today. And then do something kind for the following days you have to do so.
