150423 Exclusive Interview with Huang Zitao’s Father
Yesterday night, the father of EXO Chinese member Huang Zitao, “selfishly” requested a contract nullification for his son. Sina Entertainment exclusively interviewed Tao’s father, where he states that the reason he hopes for his son’s return is because he wishes his son to be healthy: “In the end, Zitao agreed for us to suggest contract nullification because he is extremely filial and respects us.” His father’s current wish is for his son to recover thoroughly and contemplate his future seriously.
Sina Entertainment reported on the night of the 22nd at 8:30PM that EXO Chinese member Huang Zitao’s father had uploaded a long post on Weibo revealing his identity and his “selfish” request for his son Huang Zitao to nullify his contract with Korean agency SM Entertainment and leave the group EXO. He expresses that the main reason he wishes for his son’s return is to hope that he can “be healthy”, thus revealing that Huang Zitao’s ankle and waist are seriously injured, with a torn ankle ligament and a waist injury that never fully recovered. Regarding Huang Zitao’s current and future plans, his father responds that he wishes for his son to recover properly and seriously contemplate about his future. His parents will support his perseverance.
Huang Zitao’s father reveals during the interview that he is so nervous that his hands are shaking. Even if his son is a celebrity, as a father, engaging with the media is a first for him. While filming a Korean variety show, Tao was participating in diving, high jump, and basketball competitions, all the while sustaining a waist, shoulder, leg and foot injury. When the group was performing, Huang Zitao was, for one reason or another, always performing flips (that is a part of the choreography) and would fall.
Tao’s father requesting for a contract nullification is a first. Zitao’s father truthfully says that, “The most simple and direct reason is because of my son’s health and safety”, he continues on: “Since his debut three years ago, he has engaged in numerous high-risk activities. From falling off a stage that did not pass safety regulations, and he’s been in wheelchairs and used crutches/canes. The company has never placed emphasis and concerns on his injuries seriously, treatments have been delayed and delayed again.
