New Mexico tragedy

On September 5, 1956, the Santa Fe’s Chief and Fast Mail collided at Robinson, N.M., killing 20 passengers and crew. Here, sleeping car Pine Rapids and an F unit from the Chief rest perpendicular to the tracks after the incident.

Heart like a dusty mausoleum the entombment of some soft sobbing surrender you learn that the saddest of sounds is silence when a baby is born lifeless, grey, and still to a young mother who can’t stop the howl and will from here on out fear the quiet Heart like a necromancer how you’d face Ussen himself to bring them back in your dreams the boy you loved cradles your son a crown of thorns and a newborn’s cries but the corridor gets longer the farther you run and you wake up exhausted empty arms and a mouth full of blood Heart like a burning lake when the anger chars your bones into bitter ash and the words you spit slice love like a guillotine the cold and the emptiness become your comfort until you catch a fleeting glimpse of yourself echoed in the face of your youngest daughter and realize you’re ready for the winter to pass Heart like a sagging wickiup in that desert reservation the world left behind when your father looked back through the rearview to see scrawled on a crumbling casino wall: ’all the real Indians are dead’ and though you don’t know how to begin the healing your father still tells you with gentleness: “My tsídii, you must put down your rage and try”

I may be biased because this is local to me but I’m in love 🤩 I love the avocado kitchen appliances, the blue tiled bathroom, the NM themed gated windows, the basement mural, the spiral staircase, the natural lighting! I would move in right now 🧳
