seeing your argument about celebrities on twitter - i gotta ask: what do you feel about people calling jared leto a "rapist" based on some accusations that have no base and were posted on tumblr (even though some of the fans specifically said those were taken out of forums where people were writing fanfiction-y things)
lmao im surprised anyone on here follows me on twitter tbh besides marisa and grace but like idk man. this might be a really long post so bear with me.ive heard the claims of him being a rapist, but i still haven't seen any proof of it. if he were, you know there would be something in the news of someone going to the police about, him being charged, etc. but ive yet to see any proof of him being a rapist. i have a friend on twitter who is older and has been a fan of letos from the beginning and he was around when those fan forums were a thing (before twitter and everything) and he said that it escalated from a fanfiction thing to ppl taking the fanfiction things and saying that they wanted leto to do that to them (wtf, right?) but he said he saw it from the beginning and it basically spread like that rumor of marilyn manson removing his lower rib cage so he could blow himself. i personally don't mind leto. i like 30stm, i enjoy some of his movies, im just worried how his portrayal of joker will be bc joker is a very complex and terrifying character. i won't believe the rumors until i see legitimate proof of him being one bc i don't believe rumors until i know for sure. and i don't mean proof from one website, i mean proof from multiple websites. i need to see every side, angle, detail, etc. of the story before i make a decision.

i have seen tv shows make passive placating attempts to represent geeky, nerdy people and i have felt let down by most of them, but i have never felt so lovingly represented as a nerd as i feel like i have been by ben wyatt, writer of star trek: tng fanfiction, lover of calzones, maker of math puns, model u.n. ambassador, settlers of catan-tournament-for-his-bachelor-party board game aficionado.
probably because being a nerd is not all that ben wyatt is, but because it is only a small slice of what it means to be ben wyatt, loving husband, loyal friend, community-minded government employee who genuinely wants to improve the lives of everyone else around him. not a joke or a dartboard combination of likely nerdy qualities.
