Bringing Lagiacrus back to MHW

As some may know, Lagiacrus was actually planned to be in MHW - possibly even at launch or shortly thereafter (like Deviljho)  This isn’t even like MH4 where he was never meant to be in the game to begin with, here he WAS in the game - that’s a very different situation. Unfortunately, according to Capcom, they were having “issues” with his animations and rig in the game. Rather than create a new one custom tailored for this NEW game, they felt it’d be best to copy-paste his old rig to be the best solution. When that didn’t work out to THEIR satisfaction (Looked fine to me…) they decided the best solution would to be axing him from the game permanently instead of taking the time and effort to create a new one, as you’d typically expect of a new game and new engine. They’ve made changes, tweaks, and additions to the game already from community feedback. Right now, Lagiacrus may still have a chance at being brought back, IF enough attention is brought to this. For every person that’s aware, that’s providing any amount of feedback on this - be it Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, whatever - that’s one more person providing the feedback that might save him.  Just simply raising awareness of this situation could do wonders. Lagiacrus being pulled was an immense emotional thing for me. It’s STILL affecting me on a very personal level, which  even my closest friends probably do not understand. Lagiacrus means enough to me that I’m doing everything I can to help raise awareness of this, to try and do every little I can. I have a message on my Guild Card, I have a shoutout I give in the start and end of SOS quests, I talk to people whenever and wherever possible  -  any little bit helps. Every little bit of feedback helps.

I don’t expect many people to see or read this, and not everyone’s going to feel that he’s worth bringing back either;   but as I said - every little bit counts.

ATTENTION ARTISTS

Copyright law is about to change

For more than a year Congress has been holding hearings for the drafting of a brand new US Copyright Act. At its heart is the return of Orphan Works

What does this mean for artists? it means it will make it easier for infringers to steal artists works and harder for people who are making or trying to make a living out of art more difficult. This will effect every artist and all the artwork they have created, are creating, and will be created. Corporates, Big businesses, and publishers want this to pass to make money out off artists works without paying us artists for past, current, and future artwork.

Basic Facts About The Law Being Proposed

 - “The Next Great Copyright Act” would replace all existing copyright law.

 - It would void our Constitutional right to the exclusive control of our work.

 - It would “privilege” the public’s right to use our work.

   - It would “pressure” you to register your work with commercial registries.

   - It would “orphan” unregistered work.

   - It would make orphaned work available for commercial infringement by “good faith” infringers.

 - It would allow others to alter your work and copyright these “derivative works” in their own names.

 - It would affect all visual art: drawings, paintings, sketches, photos, etc.; past, present and future; published and unpublished; domestic and foreign.

** Ways to stop this or preventing these changes from happening**

 > > > > > > >  DEADLINE IS NEXT THURSDAY: JULY 23, 2015 < < < < < <

 - share, reblog this post, spread it for other artists to take notice and action.

 - You can submit a letter on how this law can be an issue for you as an artist here.

 - Non-U.S. artists can email their letters to the attention of:

Catherine Rowland Senior Advisor to the Register of Copyrights U.S. Copyright Office crowland@loc.gov

Articles about this - 1, 2, 3, 4

“Right now nobody has to understand copyright law because you’re protected by it, but under the law they are proposing, copyright law wont protect you anymore.”

- Brad Holland (Quote from the video - at 1:23:30)

More information:

According to Will Terry, who uploaded the video:

They are working with big corporations who I will also not name who stand to gain big time. Think about a company that has the largest search engine on the internet…they are putting lots of money behind this because there is a ton of money in controlling and selling all of our work. (x)

Which may explain why Googling the Orphan Works and Next Great Copyright Act yields so little results. Please add any extra information if you have access to it, because I couldn’t find much.

Facts everyone needs to know about Iwata:

  • He saved HAL Laboratories from going down under and was a key to Kirby’s creation as a series.
  • He reprogrammed the entire Mother 2 / Earthbound game in less than six months. He’s the reason it exists.
  • The last game he engineered was Super Smash Bros. Melee.. out of necessity. He re-coded that as well so it would meet its November 2001 release.
  • He cut his salary in half to keep Nintendo afloat rather than cut positions at the bottom.
  • He gave the speech titled “Heart of a Gamer” in 2005, a key time before the Wii’s release, which shocked the world in the following generation.
  • Designer first, executive second. One of the few, if not, the first and only president of a major gaming company who was a designer first and foremost.
  • He was the fourth President of Nintendo and the first not by blood relation to get the honors due to his previous years of leadership.
  • Iwata believed in open communication with the fans and the press. He believed in sharing his and other developers’ passion for video game design. Thus, he created a series called, “Iwata Asks.”

Overall, as president, he has helped carry Nintendo into the new millennium. He brought in the most memorable public face of gaming known as Reginald Fils-Aime, he orchestrated one of Nintendo’s finest, most shocking years in popular culture since the NES with the Wii, and shouldered the burden and took full responsibility of both the GameCube and the Wii U financially. A man with this much business savvy, personality, passion, and unselfishness… will surely, surely be missed in the gaming realm.

“Even if we come from different sides of the world, speak different languages, even if we eat too many chips or rice balls, even if we have different tastes in games, every one of us here today is identical in the most important way: each one of us has the heart of a gamer.” - Satoru Iwata, Heart of a Gamer
