Of course Gymcastic (from their US Classic preview show) thinks that requiring athletes to show routines before World Team Selection Camp is a stupid rule and that if Lee fails to meet the 2 event qualifying standard they should change the rules.

But they also seem to be under the impression she might get a 15 on bars and we know she doesn't even have a full routine right now ...

Hilariously apparently Jessica asked USAG for clarification on the (very clearly written rules) and hilariously the answer was them sending the rules to her.

I feel kind of bad for the USAG media person who keeps having to hold people's hands and read the publicly-posted rules to them.

I mean I had a ton of reddit people downvote me and call me names for saying that the rules shouldn't have unwritten exceptions. But I don't have the phone number of the USAG media person.

Media Person: *crying, a half-drunk fifth of scotch open next to them* WHY. CAN’T. YOU. READ?!

When we say these rules are explicitly clear... I don't see how they could be more clear. This woman seriously called them up and asked them if Lee really had to compete at the US Classic. Notice the highlights. She hasn't competed any elite meet since Tokyo and hasn't been to a camp this year. She has a major health crisis... but like... this set of rules is not ambigious.

Gabby Douglas annouces her return to elite gymnastics with a goal of Paris 2024.

At this point she can not qualify to 2023 US Nationals or be invited to the 2023 World trials. Realistically we will most likely see her at the 2024 Winter Cup in February
