You spotted the device in your peripheral, the appearance of it sudden and uncanny as though it appeared out of thin air. You’re certain it’s not your own, yet you feel inexplicably drawn to it regardless. With uncertainty you take the device into your hands, and once powered on, a sign-up screen for an unfamiliar program named RIFT greets you, requesting only your name. The moment you enter and confirm it, an eerily cheerful tune sounds and a simple message fades onto the screen:

On the next page of that journal, there’s another entry.

Okay, so it was a little harder than anticipated. It’s certainly different from turf wars.

The octarians live in these giant underground caves with an artificial sun (just a giant light bulb) and screens that create a synthetic sky. It’s kind of sad, actually.

But still, they took our zapfish. Cap’n can’t do it because he’s old. So... I guess that leaves me.

They’re trying to revive giant weapons using the zapfish. I faced off against one and... yikes. I think Cap’n called it the Octostomp? It tried to crush me! Several times!

It can only get harder from here...

There’s a beat up journal that someone seems to have forgotten to put away. Inside, there’s a series of journal entries written in the inkling language. This first entry goes like this:

I never would have expected something like this to be hidden outside the city. No one else seems to know of this secret operation. What did he call it? The New Squidbeak Splatoon? 

I sort of got roped into being “Agent 3″. If I’m Agent 3, where are the other two agents? Did they fail, or...?

No, I shouldn’t think like that. 

I would have turned the old man’s request down, but... the city is in danger. SOMEONE has to help, or else the city will lose power. 

So I have to splat some Octo-creeps? Sounds easy enough. Here I go.

Ooc: Update on things!
I did buy a Switch and Splatoon 2 is preordered and I’m picking up when the store opens Friday! Wooo!
Also, a special news update regarding this blog.
I know I said I’d rewrite Celeste’s stuff, but it was put off due to a lot of real life things going on. So her Agent 3 story will be written almost like a journal instead of drabbles. I apologize!
And since Splat 2 has hinted that the agent this time is not the same as Agent 3 (since they didn’t recognize Marie), that means Celeste has retired from being an Agent! For the most part, anyways. Maybe she’ll don the gear again some day. Who knows?
“But Squiddles, who will be the new agent?”
Fear not! I already thought of that! While I cannot show her blog yet because it isn’t fully set up (maybe if mutuals IM me, though c;), I suppose I can tell you her name…
Her name is Bubbles, and she’s relatively new to city life! She appears mostly happy and bubbly and optimistic, and has a major sweet tooth! Actually, she seems to love food in general.

Ooc: So... I don’t have enough money to buy a Nintendo Switch, which I obviously need if I want to buy and play Splatoon 2. And as many of you know I’m a jobless college student. My only source of income has been donations through ko-fi, which, admittedly, hasn’t been much. So...

Splatoon 2 confirmed.

Which means I’m probably gonna do an overhaul of this blog, rewrite the story through drabbles and keep it post-Splatoon for now.

I cannot fucking believe this is happening. 

I can’t believe it brought my muse back too.

HAPPY ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY TO OFSQUIDSANDKIDS!

That’s right! A whole year has passed! It’s been quite a roller coaster in this fandom. We’ve had ups and downs, but we made it one whole year! Thank you to everyone who stuck by me, and thank you to my amazing friends who stayed even though I became trash for other fandoms. 

Celeste (or Squirt, whichever you choose to call her) has changed a lot over a single year. From just a random, aimless OC to an actual OC with a story. She gained a lot of development through interaction with everyone and I couldn’t be happier.

So thank you everyone, from both Celeste and I!
