I have been having trouble writing recently but these might help! I'll probably just do short snippets but send me a number and whatever details you want and I'll try to do it. I won't write explicit nsfw but I can do a bit of spice if you so desire ;)
So, pretty frequently writers screw up when they write about injuries. People are clonked over the head, pass out for hours, and wake up with just a headache… Eragon breaks his wrist and it’s just fine within days… Wounds heal with nary a scar, ever…
I’m aiming to fix that.

Incision vs. laceration: Most of the time (including in medical literature) they’re used synonymously, but eh.

General note: Deeper=more serious. Elevate wounded limb so that gravity draws blood towards heart. Scalp wounds also bleed a lot but tend to be superficial. If it’s dirty, risk infection. If it hits the digestive system and you don’t die immediately, infection’ll probably kill you. Don’t forget the possibility of tetanus! If a wound is positioned such that movement would cause the wound to gape open (i.e. horizontally across the knee) it’s harder to keep it closed and may take longer for it to heal.
Broken bones
Setting a broken bone when no doctor is available
General notes: If it’s a compound fracture (bone poking through) good luck fixing it on your own. If the bone is in multiple pieces, surgery is necessary to fix it—probably can’t reduce (“set”) it from the outside. Older people heal more slowly. It’s possible for bones to “heal” crooked and cause long-term problems and joint pain. Consider damage to nearby nerves, muscle, and blood vessels.
Concussions
Mild Brain Injuries: The next step up from most severe type of concussion, Grade 3
Second impact syndrome: When a second blow delivered before recovering from the initial concussion has catastrophic effects. Apparently rare.
Symptoms: Scroll about halfway down the page for the most severe symptoms
General notes: If you pass out, even for a few seconds, it’s serious. If you have multiple concussions over a lifetime, they will be progressively more serious. Symptoms can linger for a long time.

The whumper uses the whumpee as a ‘comfort animal’.
They cuddle them, stroke their hair, listen to their heartbeat, generally use them to calm down and feel better before going forth to do evil or whatever.
Does the whumpee feel any sympathy for the whumper? How did that relationship develop? How will the whumpee attempt to comfort the caretaker or another whumpee?
Maybe the Whumpee has to be restrained in order to even allow it. Or they’re being forced into it by threatening harm to their loved ones. They want to throw up every time they feel the Whumper’s hands on their body. Then, the Whumper doesn’t come back for a while. And the Whumpee is alone. For days on end. At first they are relieved, because they can’t bear the smell of their Whumper on their clothes and the crowing sounds they make whenever they try to convince the Whumpee that this is a pleasant experience, that they’re “so lucky I like you, little pet”. For the first time in weeks the Whumper’s smell starts to wear off. And they can breathe a little easier.
And then the emptiness creeps in. They distract themselves by plotting escape plans and trying to keep track of the days, but apart from a servant delivering food and clean water there isn’t much to focus on.
A spider has built a web in one of the corners. Sometimes there’s faint voices outside.
But that is it. And Whumpee’s sanity begins to crack. Just a little. It isn’t enough to worry anyone yet. It’s normal to feel like they’re going to suffocate in the silence. Isn’t it? They get startled one day because something creaks outside the door and for a second they believe it’s the Whumper returning from whatever villainous task they were attending to, and they scramble to their feet before they even know what they’re doing, heart skipping a beat. It isn’t just fear. They refuse to eat that day once they realise. By the time the Whumper does finally return, they find a Whumpee that leans into their touch when they first reach out, eyes hazed over with need. They’ve become more pliant. More like the pet they were always supposed to be.
They also cry more often. But that only leaves them even more susceptible to human warmth.
The Whumper is more than happy to provide.

I was thinking of things that Maia would do to Sam, because she is of the intimate and sadistic whumper type, so here’s a list of some fun ideas that I’ve collated (with additions from @pythagoreanwhump and @questionable-references, thanks!)
- the whumper sitting on the whumpee’s lap while hurting them
- carving their name into the whumpee as a permanent mark of ownership
- putting out cigarettes on the whumpee
- stabbing them while holding them close so they have no choice but to cling to their torturer as they whimper and shake with the pain (this one is all @pythagoreanwhump‘s, thank you for my new favourite trope)
- digging their fingers into the whumpee’s wounds
- whispering threatening things into their ear while they stroke their hair
- alternating between being gentle and hurting the whumpee
- gentle hair petting turning into harsh grabbing
- the whumper giving their pet a collar to demonstrate exactly to whom they belong (shoutout to @thesithwhumper ;)
I think that’s all I can think of, but please add your own suggestions, and I will be sure to credit you if I use them!
Okay, I love all of these, but I raise you with more participants in the whump.
- intimate whumper holding whumpee in place very closely from behind. A second whumper/henchman mechanically hurts the whumpee, be it knives or punches or anything, while intimate whumper strokes their damp hair, supresses every twitch of their body and whispers pet names and possessive threats into their ear from behind (similar to @pythagoreanwhump s but with more free hands)
- intimate whumper accompanying whumpee while a teammate is being tortured by another in front of them, the whumpee doing his best to hide their fear and pain but can’t with the whumper observing them from up close… When a silent tear runs down their face, the whumper gently wipes it away and whispers “You can make it end, you know…”
… and further additions to the intimate list that only involve whumper and whumpee
- the whumper being in their cell in the morning and gently waking the whumpee up, taking them several seconds to readjust themselves and realizing whose kind touch and soothing whisper they have waken up to - the horror upon realization!
- the whumper telling the whumpee they’re carrying a photograph of the other to always be reminded of them, even when they’re not “together”
Ideas specifically inspired by thoughts of Maia: -Starvation paired with tying them to chair and eating dinner in front of them. Maybe hand feeding them a few bites. Calling it a date. -After torture they are tied up, taken to a couch, laid down, their head in the whumper’s lap. Whumper stroking their hair while watching a movie. Every now and then the whumper wanders down to one of those still fresh wounds, pressing against it to feel the shake and tremble of their victim against them. -Stopping torture when their voice gives out and they can’t scream anymore. Giving them some hot tea with honey, only so the next day they can scream for them again.
-Videos are taken of them being tortured. They think so they can show their team, their team will know they are here, a hope of being rescued. Turns out, the whumper just watches them for fun sometimes, when their whumpee is too damaged to take more right now. Makes whumpee watch them to remind them all the fun things they did together.
