Nickelodeon have announced a plan to build an underwater theme park in Coron, Palawan, Philippines. They claim the 400 hectares would “advocate ocean protection,” however by building artificial structures they will actually damage and disrupt Palawan’s marine ecosystems - one of the Philippines most beautiful natural areas.

For a channel that targets children, this is unacceptable and sends a terrible message - to destroy the natural world and replace it with plastic and fantasy. 

WE need to preserve what we have left and celebrate the beauty in nature.

please know that australia is on fire. we’ve lost 10 times the amount of land the amazon rainforest lost. we are in drought. no one is talking about it. our government is ignoring climate change. the firefighters are now paying for fuel for their trucks out of their own pockets. our prime minister refuses international help. people are dying. wildlife are dying. the fires are catastrophic and spreading so fast. please hear us. my home is burning. it is spring.

I’d like to preface this by saying while bushfires are almost inevitable in the spring/summer period when it’s dry, the current government has exacerbated the issue by continuing to enact legislation that harms the environment but increases profit of certain business ventures. One recent example is the Murray-Darling scandal, where the former Minister for Agriculture, Barnaby Joyce, signed off on a “water buyback scheme”. The Murray-Darling, a hugely important river, is now filled with dead fish due to the mishandling of a delicate ecosystem.

I usually don’t put politics on this tumblr but the Australian ecosystem is extremely fragile and is in danger of a catastrophic collapse due to the mismanagement and corruption of those put in power to protect it. I would recommend anyone who feels strongly about this issue to do research into where you obtain your goods from and what each party/representative is doing to protect our environment
