I love that in Catching fire Katniss comes to the conclusion the other tributes are trying to keep Peeta alive because they must see how amazingly perfectly wonderful he is. When in actuality that’s just her having a crush and everyone else recognizing that if Peeta gets hurt Katniss will go fully feral and unhinged and probably try to kill everyone and then herself.

And in these next 50 years you will eat so many delicious meals, laugh so many times with so many people you love, shout and scream and sing and cry and smile so hard your face hurts. And you will see such beautiful sunsets and feel fresh cold air on your face and feel warm and safe wrapped up in your favourite winter coat.

I wrap this blessing around you like a shroud, so that no ill can find you, and every warmth is held close

katniss: wow peeta's so good at pretending to be in love with me i bet he's been playing the capitol since the start what an evil mastermind he's so much better at pretending than i am peeta: omg my crush just kissed me quick say something cute and maybe she'll do it again

I just reread the hunger games and no one can tell me Katniss did not fall for Peeta or at least started falling for him in this book. She clearly does not realize it and is confused but it‘s still there.

It’s in the way he can comfort her and how she feels at peace even in the games and when they are watching the recap with Cesar the scenes she thinks are the most convincing of her in the starcrossed lovers trope are the ones where her real emotions are showing and not the ones she just tried to portray. Like when she called out his name after the announcement that two tributes can win the games or when she banged against the glas wall while he was in surgery. None of that what acting.

Also she describes sensations that everyone except Katniss would interpret as having feelings for someone. Like the warm feeling when she kissed him or when she realizes she does not want to lose him or when she tries to talk about her feelings in the cave but does not want someone to watch them because she thinks the moment should belong only to her and Peeta. I‘m sorry but that sounds like falling for someone to me.

rewatching catching fire and all the ways the tributes and others involved take a stand against the capitol is incredible like this series is so smart and political it aint just a love triangle set in a battle royale!!

in the first hour or so we have:

- the more obvious examples on the victory tour, katniss and peeta going off script to properly pay tribute to rue and thresh and the anarchy in the districts

- katniss standing up to the peacekeeper flogging gale, it was done to protect him but it wouldve definitely inspired the whole district to not submit to the new enforcements

- beetee and wiress watching for the forcefield, using every minute they have to find weaknesses in the capitol

- peeta using his interview to paint rue, inspiring katniss to make a dummy of seneca crane, sending the clear message of we know your game. the people are onto them, and are going to fight

- the news of the baby. just wonderful. the way it outraged not just the populations of the oppressed districts but the capitol people themselves, how could they send a woman to die when she is carrying a baby, an innocent young life? leads to the question of the games themselves, and the lack of morality in sending children to die for entertainment. if the people of the capitol arent on board the authority is fucked, peeta knew this and hit where it hurt

my point? this franchise is incredibly complex and smart and i love it

just a reminder that no book/movie series will ever be on the level that the hunger games was. the hunger games was THE blueprint. it paved the way for the entire genre of teen dystopian novels/series. every other YA dystopian series wishes it was what the hunger games was. i could go into heavy detail about this. i can recite the entire movie series and the books from memory.

you ever think about how in star wars the four heroes that overthrew the tyrannical empire and inagurated a new government are the princess of a tragically destroyed planet, a wisecracking rogue, the last heir of a religious order of wizards who do actual literal magic, and.........a city mayor

i should clarify that im not disparaging lando here i'm just wondering what it's like to be in a space fantasy adventure as the ONE member of your friend group who knows what a zoning law is

You can frequently see this in Lando's face.

Atlantis is like if they took a cast from a work place related comedy (think Parks and Rec, Brooklyn 99, The Office) and instead of low-stakes hijinks sent them on an Epic Quest

and it’s great

this movie is a national treasure

Can't imagine what it's like to consume media like a normal person. To discover something you enjoy, go oh i loved that, then just move on and not spend the next 6 months of your life literally thinking about nothing else.
