You’re Fevers Too High, Sara Lance And Oliver Queen.

Oliver had laid down on the bed only to discover that he was bleeding. Sara did her best to help him swap out the old bandages for new ones, using whatever they could from the hotel’s first aid kit. Then he was laying down again, his skin hot to the touch. He was trying to keep his eyes open but, as she pressed cold cloths to his forehead, she urged him, “It’s all right. It’s all over now, you can sleep. I’ll be here to stand guard, all right?”
Oliver drifted off and she pulled up a chair so that she could sit beside him. As the hours passed, she continued to swap out one cold cloth for another, but his temperature was still sky high. Eventually, she had to wake him, a glass of cold water and the Russian equivalent of Tylenol in her hands, “You gotta sit up, okay? Just for a minute, just long enough to get this medicine in you. Then you can go back to sleep.”

His eyes were barely opened, he was breathing softly as he slept, his body would tremble at random as his body was trying to fight the fever. He would mutter in his sleep as time and time again he was being haunted by things that had happened in his past, with the numerous times he had lost Sara. The others he had lost along the way of his painful and tedious journey that he wished would come to an end. His head tilted lightly as he was sleeping somewhat peacefully. He leaned his head slightly and looked at her, he was extremely disoriented as he slowly pushed himself up. He carefully took the two pills and placed them in his mouth. He had chugged the water down as if desperate that it would cool him down. He had slowly moved and slid back down in the bed. His chest was rising and falling tiredly..”You need sleep..can’t stay up all night.”....he whispered.

He raised his eyes and laughed lightly..”Uh huh.”...he murmured. He snorted and closed his eyes slightly. He swallowed softly..”There should be all of that.”...he said as he tilted his head a bit looking at her quietly. He moved slowly and took a sip of her tea. His eyes raised lightly as he caught the waitress and asked for a cup of tea for himself.

Sara laughed softly, “If only it were that simple.” It might be for Oliver; maybe he intended on sticking with the Bratva forever, on staying in Russia. But when it came to the League, she had to go wherever they told her to, regardless of the way she felt about boats and islands.
Sara was grateful that Oliver was so willing to go to a hotel. They could both be stubborn as hell, and she didn’t want to fight with him right now; for one, he needed all the energy he had left. He pointed out a place across the street, and she walked them over to it as fast as she could. She offered the man at the counter a wad of cash, with a bonus for making sure that no one disturbed them. Then she was helping Oliver into the room, getting him settled on the bed.

He leaned his head slightly.."If only."...he whispered and took a slow breathe. His eyes were barely opened as he moved walking slowly, he could feel himself rapidly fading. He was glad to get to a room, he was holding onto his side while taking a slow breathe.

He moved carefully and laid down on the bed, his eyes closed a bit while laying perfectly still. He had leaned his head up slightly as he felt that he was bleeding, he had gotten up long enough to put clean bandages on and  tape them into place before laying back down again. His fever was raging, it had eased up some before but it was back at full force. His fingers were bent lightly as he let his eyes roll from one side to the other, he just watched her quietly before the fever won and he had passed out seconds later.

Sara nodded, matching his tone, “I’d go somewhere quiet – maybe the mountains. But definitely no boats and no islands.” She was glad to hear that Oliver had gotten through the fight without incurring any serious injuries, but it was obvious that the fever still needed to be treated. And she really didn’t want to take him back to that hole in the wall to do it.
Seeing that Oliver was fading fast, that they needed to get him somewhere that he could lay down, she asked, “Do we have to go back to that mess I found you in? I’ve got cash, why don’t I spring for a hotel room for a few days?” It didn’t have to be anywhere particularly upscale; in fact, she would prefer it not to be. No cameras would be better for both of them. “Just a room that isn’t so cold and dark – somewhere you can heal faster.”

Oliver swallowed softly.."I never want to look at another boat or another island...ever..again."...he said slowly while he walked. He coughed a few times and closed his eyes a bit. He looked at her sideways as he took a breathe, he didn't want to go back to the hole in the wall either but at that point he didn't see any other choice. That was until Sara had mentioned a hotel.

He swallowed again and coughed lightly as he took a deep breathe.."Hotel it is."...he whispered. He had leaned his head up and looked around slowly pointing to a place that was across the street.."Over there."...he whispered as he leaned his head a bit. He was fighting to stay with it just long enough to make it to a bed, somewhere somewhat safer then the crap hole he was staying in.

Healing Wounds, Cara Quinn And Oliver Queen.

Aside from his injuries, Oliver’s panic attacks – those two words didn’t even seem large enough to explain what he was enduring – were harrowing to say the least. He would scream and lash out and, while she wasn’t afraid for her own safety, she was worried that he would hurt himself even more. Luckily, Diggle had always been there to calm him down, to sedate him.
As he stood before her now, terrified and confused, Cara kept repeating the same words over and over. That she was here with him. That he was safe, that they were all safe. It wasn’t until he started to repeat them himself, the block of wood falling to the floor, that she tightened her hold on both of his hands. “I love you. And everyone’s all right, everything is all right. It’s over, Oliver.”

His eyes were barely opened as he was just standing there staring at her with a death grip on the block of wood. His chest was rising and falling, he had felt her grip tighten on his after he was no longer holding the block. He had swallowed softly as he just kept repeating it over and over again as if drilling it into his mind. He pressed his lips together and looked at her after a few moments.

He looked as if he was in a fog, the glazed over look in his eyes had given it away. His chest was rising and falling slowly. He had gently moved one hand and pulled her to him just wanting to hold her, to know that it was all real and that it wasn't a dream that his mind had seemingly created for him time and time again. His head gently rested near hers as he was standing perfectly still.

Sara laughed in return, “I don’t think the Bratva does vacation days.” From what he’d said before, she assumed he was staying with the brotherhood. He’d spoken of having nowhere else to go, of not knowing how to go home after all of this – which she completely understood. That, and she assumed that – like her – he didn’t have a choice. That he couldn’t really leave.
As Sara continued to walk alongside him, she asked, “I know you were already a fever-y mess before the fight, but what about now? Any injuries to add to your problems?” She had come out of the fight alright; some bruises, maybe a cut or two but nothing she couldn’t handle. But she had gone into the fight feeling 100%, and that wasn’t the case for Oliver.

Oliver licked his lower lip gently.."If only."...he mumbled. He swallowed lightly and closed his eyes for a moment as he just walked tiredly with her. He looked at her quietly.."I'm a mess...still, just a few bruises, that I can deal with."....he said quietly. He just needed to lay down and get at least a few days rest to recover from the fever that was raging within him, much like the storm that had sunk the Queen's Gambit, it was what he oddly compared his fever too.

His eyes moved a bit just glad to see that they weren't too far from the small run down room that he called home. He was fighting to stay awake as he shifted his jaw slightly using his other hand to rest on the wall to keep him going. His eyes kept closing knowing it was getting tougher for him to stay with it.

Once they were outside and Oliver had to use the wall to prop himself up again, Sara didn’t hesitate. She slid her arm around his waist, pressing her forehead to his as she murmured, “You did it. It’s over, Ollie. It’s over.” He’d fulfilled his promise and now he could rest. Well, rest as much as one could when they were a part of the Bratva.
Oliver started walking again, the action making him fall to his knees. She struggled to help him, to get him standing again. “Hey, c’mon. We need to get out of here, we’re not safe yet. Just… Stay with me until I can get you back, all right? Then you can collapse – I’ll even stick around, watch over you until you’re feeling better. But we’ve got to get out of the streets first.”

He had closed his eyes a bit just leaning against her for a moment before he had then slowly began to walk. He had made it clear from the beginning that he was going to leave when he did what he needed too. He had his own life that he wanted to try and get back too, he wanted to see his family again but knew that he would be a different person or something else would get in the way.

He had moved feeling one of the other men help him up, he got his footing as he had slowly started to walk leaning against Sara somewhat.."I need a vacation.."...he said with a tired sounding laugh. He then laughed again at the irony, a vacation with his father and Sara was what ruined all of their lives. He kept his hand pressed to his side while he walked slowly with her.

“I know you do,” Cara softly replied. And it had taken her a while to get used to that. After Analiese, after the loss of her family, she was accustomed to being on her own. She didn’t answer to anyone, she didn’t check in or worry about other people’s feelings. It was just her and the job. Oliver had changed all of that, and had stuck by her even when she tripped up and got lost in hunts.
Cara gave Oliver blood until she was too lightheaded to continue. She fought to keep her hands steady, removing the needles and tubes before putting band-aids on both of them. She sat down beside Oliver, asking, “Any better?” She paused before adding, “And it’s all right if you need to sleep now; you can rest. I’ll keep watch, okay?”

He nodded lazily as he shifted his jaw slightly. He pressed his lips together as he was deep in thought for a brief moment.."Much better but you need sleep also."...he said quietly. His eyes were intently focused on hers as he was quiet and sitting upright. He hadn't trusted himself to lay down because he would of fallen asleep which he couldn't at the beginning. His chest was rising and falling slowly as he had looked a lot better and it showed by the color in his face.

He was more alert looking also, his eyes were moving around from one side to the other lightly. He had licked his lower lip gently while sitting there just watching her, he then let his eyes drift down to the band aid on his arm. He swallowed lightly.."I want you to sleep too, we will be okay for a while.”....he said softly as he just watched her intently.

As Sara continued to take out one man after the next, she did her best to keep an eye on Oliver, too. He was looking shaky on his feet, and she was worried that he wasn’t going to make it through this fight. Finally, when it was just the two of them again, she fell back as he retrieved a gun from one of the bodies. He stumbled forward, stopping to lean against a wall, and she opened her mouth but then quickly shut it.
Even if she offered to take over from here, Oliver wouldn’t accept her help. This was something he had to do, and she respected that. Still, she stayed close, more than ready to jump in if it looked like Oliver was in real danger. Oliver located Kovar and the sound of gunshots pierced the air. He was finally dead – which Oliver verified – before they cleaned the room and left.

He had shifted his jaw lightly, he was just leaning for a moment before he went and did what he needed to do. His eyes had closed a bit as he had leaned against the wall when he got outside. He lazily shoved the gun in his waist band, his eyes had closed slowly as he stood still. His eyes opened slowly as he looked at her quietly.."Did it..I did it."...he whispered as he looked up at the sky as if talking to Taiana. His fingers were bent lightly as he was standing perfectly still.

He closed his eyes slowly as he took a deep breathe, his fingers were bent as he moved carefully standing up straight. He wobbled a bit and walked slowly as he made it  a few feet before falling to his knees. He groaned quietly as he just took several breathes to try and get himself together just long enough to get back to a bed. His fingers were bent as he had licked his lower lip gently.

Cara nodded, grinning, “Especially when it comes to my two favorite foods – pancakes and pizza.” The waitress returned with their drinks and Cara instantly wrapped her hands around the hot mug, holding it close to her. She took a deep breath, enjoying the scent of the tea before taking a sip. “They make a surprisingly good cuppa. Almost as good as my dad made it.” And that was high praise coming from her.

He raised one eye.."Pancake pizza?"...he said letting out a low chuckle. His chest was rising and falling slowly.."One of the better around here."...he said softly. His eyes were barely opened as he had licked his lower lip gently while sitting still.  His fingers were bent lightly as he had just watched her intently as he chuckled.."High Praise from the Queen Of Tea."..he murmured with a small smile remaining on his features.

Sara remembered what it was like to see Oliver fight for the first time after they’d been reunited on the island. It amazed her, seeing how much he’d changed, what he’d learned in order to survive. Watching him now in Russia… He was even more skilled, a machine. He knew exactly where to strike and how to use his surroundings to his benefit. Even after being taught how to fight by the League itself… She couldn’t help but be impressed.
When she saw him take his first hit, the fever he was fighting starting to affect him, she dropped from the roof. Sara pulled her bo staff and entered the fray. She made a point of watching Oliver’s back, making sure to take on any opponents that tried to attack him while he was already engaged with another. She moved through them quickly and quietly, barely visible in the darkness.

Oliver had shifted his jaw lightly walking carefully as he was trying to keep himself in the fight even though he felt like he was about to fall over. He had taken out the last few as he was breathing steadily as he moved and took one of the guns from the guards he had killed. He moved slowly and walked to go locate Kovar, his eyes were barely opened as he leaned against the wall for a few moments.

He swallowed hard before pushing himself off the wall and breaking the door to his office in. His face was pale white and sweaty, he raised the gun.."This is for Taiana Venediktov and her brother."...he said slowly. He fired several bullets into Kovar as he watched him take his last breathe. He checked for a pulse and snapped his neck just to be sure before leaving the room without leaving prints.

Healing Wounds, Cara Quinn And Oliver Queen.

Oliver drifted in and out of sleep – and consciousness – for days. Cara had been worried, but John and the others had insisted that he was just recharging. Trying to heal after everything he’d endured. Still, she didn’t feel comfortable leaving him, so she’d spent all of her time with him in the Arrow Cave as Felicity affectionately called it. For the most part, she refused to leave his side unless it was for a quick shower or to retrieve food.
Cara was in the process of making tea in the small kitchen area when she heard footsteps behind her. She turned to see Oliver up on his feet, a block of wood in his hand. Her first instinct was to run to him, to wrap her arms around him and never let go. But he still looked like he was in pain, so she reached out to hold his free hand, “Hey, it’s all right, you’re all right. You’re safe…”

He was laying perfectly still, he would wake up and scream in confusion not knowing where he was and thinking that everyone was at risk of being hurt. He would have to be calmed down each time and sedated just to keep himself from ripping his stitches wide opened. His body was very still in between those times for days as he was healing and recharging. He was always running himself into the ground and this gave him a chance to rest.

He had moved very carefully getting himself off the table disoriented as he thought he was elsewhere. He leaned his head slightly as he was looking around like a caged animal, confused and afraid not realizing where he was. He relaxed slightly when he saw Cara, his chest was rising and falling slowly.."Safe..."....he whispered and blinked his eyes numerous times. He slowly let the block of wood fall from his hand.."we are safe."....he said quietly while he stood there very unsteady on his feet.

In the back of her mind, Cara knew that a lack of response to stimulus – in this case, the needle – was bad. But there was nothing she could do about it, other than hope that the blood transfusion did its job and started him on the path to recovery.
Once she was sure everything was set up correctly and her blood was flowing into his arm, she sat down at his feet. She propped her arm up on the couch beside him, lightly chastising, “Hey, don’t worry about me, all right? You just focus on staying awake.” She paused before softly teasing, “You know, Oliver Queen, my life is certainly never dull when you’re around. Done a lot of hunts, dealt with a lot injuries - mine and other people’s… But I’ve never had to do a transfusion in the field.”

He was quiet as he had tilted his head lazily watching her tiredly. He never really reacted to it, but he knew this was different, that something wasn't right. His chest was rising and falling slowly while he remained still.

He moved his eyes carefully.."always worry about you."...he said softly. He laughed tiredly at that while he watched her.."First time for everything."...he said quietly. He kept blinking his eyes rapidly to try and keep himself awake. His head was resting against a pillow while he watched her intently. He swallowed softly as he tilted his head a bit while he felt his vision blurring. He was fighting like hell to keep his eyes opened so that he wouldn't end up passing out cold which was the last thing he wanted to have happen.

“I know,” was Sara’s simple but sincere reply. Because she did. She’d already started to hate who she was with Ivo. Ivo, who was torturing and dissecting innocent people supposedly for the sake of science. She’d fallen in line with him ultimately to protect herself, and she knew that now. But it didn’t change the fact that she’d stood beside him for all that time. And then – just like with Ivo – she’d joined the League to survive. To become something better, stronger. In the end, she’d just become a killer.
Sara nodded at Oliver’s suggestion, “I’m all about using whatever resources we’ve got.” Especially with the condition he was in. Oliver nodded to the men, and they moved ahead of them. Then, with a squeeze of her hand, he disappeared into the darkness. In an attempt to give him support from above, Sara silently climbed the fire escape and stepped up onto the roof of the one-story building. Then she waited for the fight to begin.

He swallowed softly as he shifted his jaw lightly. He had moved his eyes down for a moment, he gave a tired smile.."See you soon Pretty Bird."...he whispered. He vanished into the darkness as he waited quietly as he soon saw the men walk out. He watched the fight start and he started going in fists flying quickly hitting the men in just the right places. He slammed one's head against the brick wall seeing more running towards them. He grabbed a trash can top and flung it like a Frisbee hitting one in the head.."One less."...he said.

He swallowed softly as he had taken a hit to the stomach which caused him to groan. He stumbled back slightly holding his side. He recovered quickly and snapped the guys neck without batting an eye. He walked over the body swiftly as he went and charged in going after several of the others. He was holding his own which he knew would only last so long, his chest was rising and falling rapidly.

Sara shrugged, “We’ve changed who we are before.” They wouldn’t be standing here now if they hadn’t. Surviving the island and the League – or the Bratva, in Oliver’s case – meant becoming strong. Strong in ways that couldn’t be imagined. Strong in ways that not everyone survived. Strong in ways that weren’t necessarily for the better. She guessed that was why both of them were hesitant to even think about going home again. They’d changed too much.
Oliver started to walk once more, and she followed alongside him, grateful when he took her hand again. No matter what changed, no matter how much time passed… They understood each other in ways no one else could. She couldn’t explain it, but right now… She needed it. She spoke softly when she realized they were approaching their target, “Do you want to split up so that one of us can take care of our tails?”

He pressed his lips together.."Doesn't mean I like parts of who I became."...he said quietly. He sometimes thought on what obviously would never be, him never going on the boat, never going through what he went through. His jaw was clenched slightly as he shook his head a bit.."We could use them, the more the merrier, he has one too many guards."...he made a face.."Which is always a pain in the ass."

He shifted his jaw lightly and pressed his lips together as he moved slowly and quietly. He turned his head sideways looking at the two guards as if telling them to go ahead of them. His legs were somewhat as he watched them get the attention of some of the guards.."Draw them out, take them out and leave him defenseless."...he said as he moved squeezing her hand gently before stepping into the darkness to give him and the others the element of surprise.

Cara laughed softly, “Oh, you really shouldn’t underestimate me – I can tuck in when I want to.” One of the ‘benefits’ of choosing the job over meals, she supposed; when she wanted to, she really could eat a lot. She thanked Oliver for holding the door for her and then the waitress for seating them, grateful to be off of her feet again. The waitress asked for their drink order, and she ordered a mug of tea before perusing the menu.

“Oh can you?”...he said laughing at her. His lips were pressed together as he chuckled in faint amusement. He had let his eyes shift from one side to the other lightly as he ordered a cup of black coffee. His chest was rising and falling lightly while he sat there. His head tilted somewhat as he shifted his jaw, he looked down at the menu and took a slow breathe. His eyes would drift over to Cara every few moments or so.
