How I've missed how you threw your head back in your thunderous laughter. Your laughter that could scatter the stars in the night sky.

I can only look up at the stars now whenever I miss you because I am hoping that you are looking up at them and thinking of me too.

Quick write for the night:

hisvulcan, here you go and enjoy.

I have always considered myself to be lucky. To have been born on a series of islands and to leave my birthplace only to end up somewhere short of paradise. I will always love this city during the day. The charming sidewalks, busy with bustling business. The bad drivers and their road rage. The multiplicity of tongues being spoken from block to block. It was all in the language that this city spoke that I fell in love with. The night time, however, was a different story. The hustle and bustle of day pours into the lively evenings. Measure upon measure of energy and activity breathed alive and well into the night, but the coast was a different story. At night, the ocean caressed the shore and showered it with bountiful kisses and endless embraces. Each wave that kissed the shore seemed to sound like an “I love you” said in many different languages. This was where sea and sky became one. Where the ocean made known that it’s mystique and vastness was manifold only to be continued by the sky littered with stars that danced in the night. It was here that I found myself on most nights, listening to the love language of the shore and the fiery and beautiful dances of the stars. I have always had an idea of a most beautiful lover as someone who could embody the secrets, the mystery, and the vastness of the ocean and the beauty and the wonder of a sky with many dancing stars. I had always considered myself to be lucky that I could fall in love with the places I go. I am most definitely lucky that it was here.

If I were to see you in passing, I would smile and remember the sweetness and the bitterness of what was that happened between us and still wish love and caring upon you. I would smile even if I am a stranger to you now.

In other news:

- I have been recycling through some old ideas that I had for writing, and I will probably expand on them a little bit more when I have time this weekend.  - English was my third language and I do not know the syntax of this language as well as some native speakers, so I am open to suggestion and all of that good stuff. I would love to have people proof read my stuff and give me some feed back. I wouldn't want to break the rules of the language unless I had a reason (aesthetic purposes or otherwise). - I should have more time to write now between two jobs because the people that I have been partying with are now going back to school, so the helter skelter lifestyle that I have been living as of late will be beaten dormant until I find myself able to function in normal society again. - I don't have much of summer left so I will plan to enjoy it and make the most of it so, if I am not writing it is because I am off on some adventure in the wilderness that is the ratchetry of Florida or I am working.

I’m not interested in your body or the way it sways when we are walking with each other. I am not interested in your beautiful face or the way that your lips curve. I am interested in the strength of your character, showing your rawness in every angle and every perspective. I am interested in your mind, whose thoughts have caressed me much more gently than your soft hands, and whose words have ignited an ember in my soul.

Side Note of my life.

I am so so so so so so very honored that Opera Tampa has asked me to sing with them for the next season! I was really bummed that I wouldn’t be able to perform next season because I missed the auditions, but I am so happy they asked me to come back without auditioning!! EEEKK! I feel so complimented and so happy!

I hope my next bae, boo-thang, lady friend, sweet, darling, love, or any sort of nickname given to a significant other is quick witted and is sassy so we can get into little verbal jousts but she would be too cute to be mad at if she won and that she has an expansive vocabulary, enough to make me stop and ask what a word might mean.

Snippet of a poem.

But we found a bench that faced The Gulf of Mexico and fit both of us. And we found jokes that made us laugh, Like the obnoxious, full body laugh that it seemed like we shook both earth and heaven as our heads tossed back. And bitter anecdotes that were so important to us Seemed so miniscule before the expansive sea. And it was just you and me. Now, I barely know where you are.

The Tree: A Personal Philosophy

I have always believed that people in my life can always categorized into parts of a tree.  As with many things in life, there are many different compartments, many different roles, and many different reasons.  On a tree, there are leaves, branches, and roots.  There is also the trunk.  I see all the different people in my life, even me, as parts of the tree.  This makes so much sense to me, and I have not run into a problem with this for the past 8 or 9 years of my life.  It is important to remember that people come into your life for a season or a lifetime.  It is just as important to remember that you cannot be putting stock into people that are only supposed to be there for a season by putting your lifetime expectations on them.

Most people in your life, acquaintances and every day people, are the leaves of the tree.  I say that many people are this part of the tree because this is also the most abundant part of the tree.  These people in your life are the people that are easily swayed by external forces of life.  The wind blows, they’re over here.  The wind blows the other way, they’re over there.  The season changes, they wither and die away.  It is important to remember that it is okay when someone walks out of your life.  They were just a leaf that withered and died, they may come back the next season, but do not be saddened by their leaving.  You also cannot be mad at the people who are in your life that are leaves because that’s just who they are; a leaf.  They are only there to give shade and keep you company.  They will come and go.  People will always come and go, but when they want to go, let them go.

The next part of the tree are the branches.  These people are here to stay for a little bit longer than a season.  The branches in your life are good friends that will be there for you and will support you, but as soon as times get tough, some of them will leave you high and dry.  Notice that there are less branches on a tree than there are leaves.  This signifies just how many people you have as branches.  Again, it is important to remember that letting go of people is okay.

The next, and perhaps the most important, part of the tree is the trunk.  The trunk resembles the self.  Just as the leaves provide shade and cover the trunk, the trunk provides life to the branches and the leaves on the tree.  Successful friendships and relationships come from the understanding that any relationship has to have communication and a give and take in order to survive, and this is how the tree lives.  It is important the the trunk takes advantage of the shade provided by the branches and the leaves, because the branches and the leaves use the trunk to keep them on the tree.  If you take care of your friends, your friends will take care of you as long as the relationship has communication and a giving and taking of effort, and most importantly, having an understanding.

Even fewer, but a very crucial part, on this tree are the roots.  These are the people that will always be there for you no matter what.  It doesn’t matter who they’re with, it doesn’t matter what circumstance, they will be there for you.  They hold you to the ground in times of great disaster.  Most importantly, they are the ones that enrich your life by taking from the Earth to keep the trunk alive, and to enable the trunk to give to the leaves and branches.  There are very few roots at the bottom of the tree, and when you find yourself a root, make sure you keep them around because you will always be grateful for these people.

As always in this life, we will find ourselves in moments where we are in a quarrel with our friends and this is a true test of friendship.  As I have stated before, the keys to any successful relationship include understanding and communication.  If you were in a misunderstanding with a friend and you are refraining from being understanding or you are not communicating, then you are cutting off the life source for that person on the tree.  They may be a leaf that will wither and die away, but if that person is trying their hardest to be understanding of you and they are trying their hardest to keep the communication going, then that is a person who is trying to grow up from a leaf to become something else on your tree.  You have to acknowledge that nothing worth having will come easy, and when these people present themselves to you, do not be foolish by just cutting them off completely.  Of course, if you feel that there is a person in your life that is just bringing a lot of trouble and unpleasantness into your life, you have every right to want to cut them off, but it is important to keep communication and understanding to get to the bottom of the issue and resolve it.

Thank you if you managed to read through this, Jarvis.

New Writing Blog!

Hello Reader!

I created this blog mainly because I wanted to separate the ideas that I had for writing away from my main blog which consisted of a hodgepodge of things that I found interesting and so on and so forth. I truly hope that I will be using this sub-section of my blog very often as I have always had so many ideas that I wanted to expand on, but never had the time. I do realize, now, that these are ideas that I would normally not have time for, so I have to MAKE time for them.

The things that end up on this blog will probably range from revelations, big and small….mostly small, that I have during my lifetime and just other sampling of poetry and prose when I feel like it.

Thank you very much,

Jarvis
