How about if them dimension hop only worked cause shadow used chaos control near distortion near the prism assisting nines dimension hop and manically lonely nine just got clingy towards shadow since.
I like the concept of the shatterverse merging with the larger multiverse upon sonic reaching green hill and that attracting attention. AKA archiverse zonic.
Giving the guy even more headaches
Poor Zonic, he's a Sonic but Sonics all across the multiverse keep making his life harder.
Zonic gets the job to check out the anomaly but overenthusiastic zails recklessly rushes to check it out first.

Now that you mention it, it's kinda crazy that the series ends with Nine being completely alone. I understand that the Shatterspace residents might not want him around after everything, but still...
Nine is a really tragic character. He grew up alone in a dystopian society, growing more paranoid and resentful every day. He finally opens himself up to someone, gets his heart broken due to misinterpreting their relationship, and by lashing out he ruined his chance to ever find new friendships. Does he really want to stay in the Grim now? Or is this isolation a form of self-punishment?
I like to believe the other Shatterspaces are open for Nine, when he's ready to take that step. Maybe he needs some time to reflect on his actions and what he wants to do.
I see him literally either intentionally or accidentally jumping to a yet to seen sonic timeline cause he literally has the technical means and nothing to lose in his eyes.
For some reason I really like this scene. His tone alongside the way he's animated makes it look like he's talking to his tails and they're equally as confused as him. (even if it's just subtle twitching. <- guy who had rewatched this scene too much) When he's not using his metal tails to cover his real ones, he's normally just using them for fighting, mobility, or intimidation. So to see them emote alongside him gives them an almost doc ock feel
Having those limbs since he was very young had a mental impact. He probably gets a bad case of phantom limb whenever his metal limbs are off him. And accidentally falling and being clumsy when he impulsively tries to lean in to his missing limbs.
I have a hypothetical the after sonic prime.
after reckless warping from the grim he finds another reality warping crystal but it's heavily guarded by time and space time cops. He steals it as is going increasingly mad with power with space time cops chasing his ass.
NINE? HELP. Local 9 year old leaves his doomed by narrative shatterspace and IMMEDIATELY causes problems for someone else. haven't read Archie so unfortunately no zone cops and generic space cops will have to do (<- hates butchering characters I don't know)
I can imagine him hopping through different realities trying to find some place empty and accidentally causing a lot of collateral damage because he can't escape madness inducing magic rocks
Now have angstier idea of space cops starting it wanting to abduct nine in the grim for being a potentially dangerous multidimensional anomaly and nine still in a pretty tired post battle state.
Au where Nine finds a way to visit the og world and ends up getting adopted by Shadow (he gets his own lil brother) (ignore the fact that they tried to kill each other)

But them trying to kill each while sassing is the feature to how they bonded. Also shadow just trying to save the world FROM nine as he rushes to be a menace when left to his own.
Haha what if the Prism was partially sentient except it was also evil and with Nine using it so much it not only sapped his energy but there was also something else. Something that was telling him that all he needs is more power and no one will hurt him again, hushing him and promising to protect him if he just does as it says, using his vulnerability to then crush him as something new takes shape
Something that was neither Tails nor Nine and something that only Sonic could destroy but couldn't bring himself to
i mean I head cannon nine stalking shadow trying to find where he hid the prism. he has no idea what he would do with it he just has a scratching itch to know where it is. But shadow is gets worried about the look in nines eyes when talking about the prism.

Remember how in the show he always kept using them to gain height on others so he'd be taller and more intimidating? Yeah...
I think while he sleeps his tails either surrounds him like a crouching tarantula or is strangling a pillow. Which the later is safer to approach and or cuddle.

Tails doesn't need a love interest his needs an abrupt fascination in building siege weaponry while only stopping to ponder whether strawberry or mango juice is better.

You know how in most of the adaptations, Tails usually follows Sonic around for a bit out of a desire to be with him? In Prime it’s reversed with the variants.
For Mangey, Sonic actively wanted to find a Tails Variant when he met him. (Though Mangey Did quickly attack him.)
For Sails, the pirates will all preparing to leave Sonic on the island but Sonic begged them to allow him to join them and Sails accepted.
For Nine, Sonic spotted Nine by chance and began following him around.

And if you notice, even with that switcharoo, both Sonic and each of the Tails variants cared for each other just the same. Mangey trusting him, hiding behind him, worrying for him, reaching out for him, Nine creating an actual meaningful heartfelt gift for him, sharing what he holds most dear with him, helping him, trying to protect him, Sails not letting him fall into the water, worriedly asking about him, looking the most heartbroken and reluctant to attack and betrayed when Dread lied about Sonic.
And Sonic... He'd been willing to help and protect each one of them

The biggest one is there is a flip of who follows and who's leads with Nine taking the more commanding role in the dynamic.

I'm having so much with Star Ocean: First Departure R. I've never played it before it released on the Switch (I've only played Till The End of Time). But it's still giving me major nostalgia because it was made by the same people that made Tales of Phantasia. The music is very Phantasia, the designs are very Phantasia, the time travel aspect is very Phantasia. Uggggh, I love it.
I once had a crossover idea with this and tales of symphonia some years ago. It would be wild if the star ocean and the tales of series had a formal crossover game.
