Hello~ :)

Hope you enjoy these pages~! This was my contribution to a great  comics & illustration anthology by SVA students called ROOKERY. These pages can be found in Rookery Volume 2: Dreams & Nightmares.

If you’re interested in purchasing a copy I highly recommend it since there’s such a variety of interesting and great work by such a great variety of artists! (You can message me or get one at MOCCA this year)

I decided to draw a mini story of a young girl who ends up fighting her own type of boogeyman that looks suspiciously like her plushie lol. Hope you like it!

Another year of spx has come and gone. If you’ve never been it’s a bit like this:

"Look at all the stuff! Look at all the stuff by super rad, nice people! Look at all the stuff by super rad, nice people who make me want to make things!"

In short, it’s incredible. Not a day goes by that I...

My contribution to the second volume of Rookery Presents (which debuted this weekend at SPX!)

I decided to experiment with a slightly different style, and to do it all digitally. Which I probably won’t ever do again, heh. Oh well, it was…interesting.

Epic kudos to kgbees, who wrote the text <3

Top six things you do to make art

uhh… this is kind of odd hm. I’ll just include dailies and continuous stuff.

1. I try to get up at 8am nowadays. At least before 9am. I’ve been successful for the past few weeks and it feels really good to be up and active within what is considered a “normal” work hour. I know you might think and “appealing” factor to freelance might be “Hey I get to be my own boss!’ But if you don’t set boundaries you will not succeed. That being said…

2. …Understand that sometimes you need to take a break and chill. Maybe toss on an episode of something and free sketch or think over your ideas- or just absorb the thing and rest your hands and body. Never forget that long hours at the drafting table or desk are taxing on your body!

3. Do not forget to eat. Maybe it’s easy for some people but I am…a work horse and I’ll try to go at it for 8 hour increments without eating a meal. At the very least snack. You need sustenance or you will flop over. And I’m not talking about fast foods- get your veggies and fruits and vitamins and shit. It’s way easy to eat right and eat energy foods. Blueberries! Um. They help you shit too and man does that feel good.

4. Hydrate. I forget to drink water so often- which is extra bad because I have very thin veins and am very likely to be dehydrated faster (it’s nuts- I can’t donate blood because of this!). It’s amazing- if you have a headache it’s important to ask yourself when is the last time you ate or drank? Maybe rethink that?

5. Take care of your tools. I use basically anything around the house to sketch and sometimes even make finished pieces with random shit but brush and pen and ink care is so imperative! And if you’re digital, then maybe make your work space extra tidy so you don’t lose your tablet pen/cables and get frustrated. Organization is important.

6. (most of this is physical stuff so some more…mental stuff?) Stay inspired and stay fresh. Keep looking at new artists as well as revisiting old favorites. Practice new styles and new mediums and jump into something unknown. Life is so short and art is so important, there is no need to block off one avenue. Be kind and stay open and great things will follow. Yeah it sounds cheesy as hell but it’s fuckin’ true.

So that’s kinda what i do? idk. hope that was cool for some people.
