If you feel like it, reblog with your answer + what country you're from.
I found "rare" was the default unless you specified otherwise where I lived in Japan, while in the United States I can't find a restaurant that will even serve a genuinely rare steak.
EDIT: I forgot to add an "I don't eat steak" option. I'm sorry!

Help I’ve hit Rohan and it’s like watching Fullmetal Alchemist in English… this is our military dictator, firstname King… everyone else is named after a WWII fighter jet but don’t worry about it… only this experience is packed in alongside some of the most beautiful, lifechanging prose you’ve ever seen in your life. Again not unlike. Fullmetal Alchemist.
“This is our king, firstname Prince (Old English Þeoden)” “this is our legendary horse named Hero/Chief (Eorl) and ok he can talk” Everyone is not named after a fighter jet! But everyone has the Eo- prefix and yeah don’t worry about it. That could just be an eo- prefix to do with the verb “to be”. Or it um. Could be eoh. Even just as a pun. In which case everyone would be named after uh. “Horse”.
I actually feel like this is one piece of meta I’ve seen before, but nah alas, I think (if nothing else bc the alternative is bonkers) he meant the eo- as in eom, which is “to be” and kind of modifies a noun: “I shall be X”. The rest of her name is wyn, which is joy. And is kind of— a big important joy? There’s a rune called wynn (same as there is a rune for horse/eoh, haha. I also ignored eo as the term for a yew tree)
The pun version, however, would be Eohwyn, aka Happyhorse
NEVERMIND someone is already telling me that nope Tolkien meant horses. She’s Happyhorse. He’s Horsepond. I give up. I give up. I
Per Tolkien Gateway, I'm not sure he is Horsepond:
"His name is likely derived from the Anglo-Saxon words eoh ("war-horse"), and mǣre, ("grand, excellent, famous")."
But it's not like I speak Old English and can tell what "-mer" is supposed to be.
Listen pal, the subtitles stay ON.
can i use a calculator on the ap french exam
this mother fucker trying to solve french
All of this delights me to no end.
…I’m actually speechless.
I wasn’t looking for any information about railroads and now I’m left with that + knowledge about spaceships, Roman chariots and one (1) unexpected but welcome joke.
I am now trying to figure out how to share this (the age-appropriate parts) with my middle school history students. What a great chain of facts!
I love this chain, but it's not entirely accurate. Railroads had multiple different gauges for a while, and the one that won out was not The Standardized Axel Width Used Since The Roman Empire, since no such precise size existed. However, the railroad is within the range of "decent axel width for horsedrawn vehicle" because of habit building for that size, and spacecraft do have to be built to ship safely on railroads, so... the joke still basically works. :)

DAVID TENNANT sprinkled with stars attending The Olivier Awards 2024 (April 14, 2024)
Just have to add absolutely hilarious tags by @destinyandcoins because everyone needs to see these spot on comments💯💯💯💯💯
... I gotta say, based on the roles I've seen him take, I think David *also* vastly enjoys dressing fabulously and outrageously. But it seems like it has to be part of playing a role, such as the role of Famous Actor David Tennant.
Zeus is a god of social power/dominance (it's not like he even generates his own lightning!) and Poseidon is a god of natural power/disasters. Guess which one is more worried about power sharing and potential competition.
personally i think you should be able to afford a place to live with a part-time job
dare i even say that, with how much technology has advanced in america, the 40 hour work week shouldn't be as commonplace and you should still get full-time employment benefits when you're working less than that actually
Actually going to go ahead and say that benefits should be available to everyone, employed or not (assuming we're talking about healthcare, retirement security, unemployment insurance), and then employers don't need to worry about a difference between full time and part time because honestly in this gig economy it's silly to act like working 15 hours a week at one job and 15 hours at another and 15 hours at a third is somehow a "part-time worker".
So many stories about good people getting evil objects that corrupt them into doing evil things, not enough stories about the reverse. I want to hear about a group of absolute bastards seeking to get rich off some ancient artifact only to realize it's subtly influencing them to defend the helpless and be kinder to each other.
"Boss! The haunted treasure chest is controlling you! You have to resist!"
"I can't!" *tosses giant bag of gold into orphanage charity box*
I wrote a whole mini essay about why I think objects only serve as evil forces in narrative, and then I remembered the candlesticks that the Bishop gifts to Jean Valjean. And I think I disproved my own argument.
