hello friends it is me the over-enthusiastic, seattle-based, mad max-loving female of your nightmares

The lovely elinekeit sent me this message answering my earlier post asking how Angharad knew Nux was “just a warboy at the end of his half-life” and I wanted to share.

“according to George Miller, Less black war paint on a war boy means they’re sicker/ less healthy by that time, nux only have black paint around his eyes and a bit on his nose so it’s a indication that he’s pretty close to the end of his half life. Angharad probably learnt about it from Miss Giddy or Furiosa”

Remember the first time we see Furiosa?

From the back, walking towards the War Rig?

Which is parked in front of the lift, with the tanker coming down behind it to be hooked on? Facing Joe’s Tower and the waterfall?

She didn’t come down from where all the other warboys were, from where the War Rig was parked, she’s coming from the other direction, on foot.

Now I know that’s probably just an aesthetic choice for the camera, but please unleash your worldbuilding hypotheses.

My headcanon is that she was taking a pace by her lead cars and checking with her crew up there as the Rig was lowered down.  She knows what’s about to go down, but they don’t.  We see later how worried she still is for them, so one last pace past them, just out of respect for her team, seems to me like something she’d do.

I was so excited when I saw this fight. Because isn’t it a great example of exactly what people tell you to do in self-defence classes? Chances are you’ll be fighting against someone who’s a) bigger and b) stronger than you.

So you have to be faster.

Even though Max was chained, and dehydrated and weak from blood loss, he’s still heavier than she is. All he really had to do - and did - was get her pinned, and the fight was over. I haven’t counted, but I’m pretty sure he nearly pinned her at least 3 other times before he got a working gun, and each time she managed to get out of it with some quick-thinking and by utilizing whatever she could get her hands on as a weapon.

That bit where she went after him with the bolt cutters was amazeballs, because that’s what you do when you’re fighting for your life: you attack, and don’t relent.

And that’s so refreshing to see.

honestly ‘i can’t wait for them to see it’ breaks my heart. furiosa doesn’t really.. she doesn’t talk about the green place, until max asks, only the girls do (’we’re going to the green place no matter what, we’re going to the green place’), and they don’t really know what it is. furiosa does, and she doesn’t talk about it, and she is hardly ever even nice to the girls, except to bind them to her, and then she says i can’t wait for them to see it and probably she’s spent the whole trip trying not to get her hopes up, but really, so badly, wanting to show these girls her birth place, the green place, the impossible, possible, thing in the desert, and then she finally thinks it’s within sight and she says ‘i can’t wait for them to see it’  and it’s just. absolutely too much.

let’s talk about daisy ridley okay bc this girl’s first film was star wars?? the biggest movie franchise of all time and she had no knowledge of what to expect coming onto a project this big but she absolutely killed it to the point where her character is so loved it has completely smashed the expectations of disney - and this girl is still the most humble and open person despite being cast in something that big at 21 years old. you literally can’t help but smile at her, and on top of that fact shes cute as hell she’s decided to go back to school to get a psychology degree whilst episode 8 is in production AND she’s producing an awesome movie about a young mongolian girl that totally deserves the attention daisy can bring to it. daisy ridley’s first movie role was the main character of a film that has completely busted records and im so glad it happened to someone this awesome

furiosa + some dude in the side window

Okay, but look at how the framing is almost identical between #2/#3 and #1/#4. Max is literal replace-Ace.

Also, how closed-off her expression is in the Ace gifs and how visible her worry and exhaustion are in the Max gifs.

Also also, these are both moments from the beginnings of major road battles: the one in the first act and the one in the third act.

“As Maggie Gyllenhaal already keenly pointed out, the real magic of Charlize Theron’s instantly-idolized Mad Max performance lies in one utterly haunting pair of bloodshot peepers. Theron conjures an entire history of harrowing, untold stories through that sore, weary stare, which remains a constant and compelling point of compassionate viewer connection throughout the relentless run of this wondrous, woozily-stylized action spectacular. Imperator Furiosa is exactly the feminist warrior our summer movie season needed, but Theron never gets caught playing the action hero, even for a second. Her soulful, sturdy Furiosa is a combat queen made unmistakably of blood, sweat, and tears, muscular in body, mind, and heart.” — Matthew Eng
