sending so much love to everyone who feels like they’re never chosen as the best friend, as the partner, as the favorite. sending love to all of you who have been treated and felt like second best. sending love to all of you who have felt rejected and unwanted. to all of you who have had to try really hard to fit in because you felt like you never will.

you are so loved. you will be seen and heard by the right people. you can trust that you are valuable and not defined by other people’s perceptions of you. if someone doesn’t see your worth, it doesn’t mean it isn’t there.

amosjheller: It’s OUT. It’s HERE.

The enormity of what Taylor has done/is doing is still dawning on me. It’s honest, precise, defiant, unprecedented. All things I’ve come to expect from her.

Going back to this music was a time warp for me, as I’m sure it is for you. While I had my head buried in the minutiae of this music, I saw old friends and forgotten spaces, heard distant voices and remembered old jokes. I had never been a part of the release of a record like this, and I was just starting to realize what a unique thing I was a part of.

I’m grateful and proud to be a part of this moment and the second chapter of this album’s life. Thanks @maxephronbernstein @mattbillingslea @paul_sidoti @smalltown1 @caitlinbird3651 @rowediddy for your care and attention. Thanks to the YOU for caring about this music. Thanks to @theworldisflatwound for the lessons as I learned your parts. Thanks to @taylorswift, who could have picked up the phone and had ANYONE play on this record, for trusting me with it. (x)

“‘Don’t You’ is a song that I wrote with Tommy Lee James, who is a fantastic writer. We wrote it about the idea of seeing someone at you used to have a thing for, and seeing them out in public for the first time after you’ve heard that they’ve moved on and that, you know, your life is kind of in shambles, and they have moved on and they’re really happy. And it’s almost like, even them being nice to you hurts you, because you’re like in such a state of pain and you haven’t moved on yet. So that was a really fun song to write because that’s just a wellspring of emotion to draw from, and Jack Antonoff produced it, and I think he did a really, really beautiful job of kind of highlighting sort of the melody and letting it just be really airy and sort of like a dreamscape.”

“The song 'Breathe' is a song about having to let go of someone in your life who you care about, and you don't want to hurt, but you've outgrown the friendship or the relationship. And I wrote the idea for it, and Colbie Caillat was in town who's just one of my favorite artists, I absolutely love her music and I love her voice. And she was in town playing a show and I brought her this idea and she really liked it, and we wrote it together. We sat there and wrote the song right before her show. I mean, it was the afternoon, she was about to play that night. And she sang backup vocals on it that are just so haunting. And I'm so lucky because she agreed to do the same backup vocals on my version of 'Breathe.' So, it absolutely would not have been the same without her. I'm really, really grateful that she decided to return to the project."
