rey’s life of solitude was an ordinary one,  but she liked it that way.  she lived day to day without many worries.  the other inhabitants of jakku tended to keep to themselves,  and she preferred it.  she wasn’t a fan of the concept of small talk.  why waste time with a conversation that neither individual truly wants to be having?  she’ll admit it’s a rather cynical way of thinking,  but she didn’t have any reason not to think that way.
another day,  another time venturing out to the scrapyard and taking what pieces pique her interest.  she was eyeing a data chip when a voice called out to her,  almost as if out of thin air.  a woman.  she gave the stranger a look of confusion.    you’re on jakku.

𝚓𝚊𝚔𝚔𝚞 ?     damnit, never head of it.

brow arching, carol looked around to really grasp the sort of environment she got herself into. a desert planet? scarce of intelligent life? ugh -- it was like earth all over again. at least the universal translator hadn’t failed her when talking to this women ( she was female on this planet? safe to not assume anything )

she does not intend to be noticed.  the floors where once she  strode  in full confidence have become a maze of secrets,  subterfuge  that has left her wary.  head down  /  gaze sliding past brickwork,  glass and stone  (  decades of accolades that ring  false  to her critical eye  ),  she moves quiet where once she  commanded.  it is not to her pleasure       some things were better left unsaid,  and some  faces  were better left unseen.
(  and in the spymaster’s lair,  perhaps it’s  too tall  an order to go unnoticed  …  but she did not  build  this web herself,  just to get caught in its snare.  )

the voice that calls her name is  unfamiliar:  there aren’t many who know her name  /  can match it to her face.  history is  unkind  to prior titans,  and she has done her best to  erase  her steps  (  as best she can,  while still lurking in its depths.  )    a pause,  and a resignation       better to deal with it  now.    ❝  as charged. ❞   a glance,  half-tossed over her shoulder:  to her surprise,  the face that greets her has its own  mild  familiarity.    ❝  ah,  i think   …  you might be captain danvers,  isn’t it? ❞

settling with a hand at her hip and still lingering over the smell of coffee, carol gives a light smile as the woman acknowledges the name and her own. ❝ 𝗂 𝖺𝗆 -- 𝗂 𝖿𝖾𝖾𝗅 𝖺 𝗅𝗂𝗍𝗍𝗅𝖾 𝗎𝗇𝖽𝖾𝗋𝖽𝗋𝖾𝗌𝗌𝖾𝖽 𝖿𝗈𝗋 𝗍𝗁𝖾 𝗈𝖼𝖼𝖺𝗌𝗂𝗈𝗇, 𝗇𝗈𝗐. 𝗒𝗈𝗎’𝗋𝖾 𝖺 𝗅𝗂𝗏𝗂𝗇𝗀 𝗅𝖾𝗀𝖾𝗇𝖽. ❞ it was true, at least in her eyes. carol had done the research here and there about the founders of 𝚂.𝙷.𝙸.𝙴.𝙻.𝙳. -- she absolutely wanted to know what she was dealing with in future events.

sipping on the coffee, she gave herself a second to enjoy the caffeine, then set the cup down on the nearby counter top to rest the other hand on her opposite side. ❝ 𝗍𝗁𝖾𝗋𝖾 𝗐𝖾𝗋𝖾 𝗈𝗇𝗅𝗒 𝖺 𝖿𝖾𝗐 𝗐𝗈𝗆𝖾𝗇 𝗍𝗁𝖺𝗍 𝖼𝗈𝗎𝗅𝖽 𝗌𝖺𝗒 𝗍𝗁𝖾𝗒 𝖽𝗂𝖽 𝗐𝗁𝖺𝗍 𝗒𝗈𝗎 𝗌𝖾𝗍 𝗈𝗎𝗍 𝗍𝗈 𝖽𝗈. 𝗀𝗈𝖺𝗅𝗌. ❞ being ᴄᴀᴘᴛᴀɪɴ ᴍᴀʀᴠᴇʟ was kind of a big deal, but she had to give it up to the first to set the bar. ❝ 𝗌𝗈 𝗒𝗈𝗎 𝗅𝗈𝗈𝗄 𝖺𝗌 𝗀𝗈𝗈𝖽 𝖺𝗍 𝗍𝗁𝖾 𝗍𝖾𝗑𝗍𝖻𝗈𝗈𝗄 𝗉𝗁𝗈𝗍𝗈𝗌 -- 𝗌𝗈 ... 𝗐𝗁𝖺𝗍 𝖺𝗋𝖾 𝗒𝗈𝗎 𝗌𝗍𝗂𝗅𝗅 𝖽𝗈𝗂𝗇𝗀 𝗁𝖾𝗋𝖾? ❞ in carol’s mind, she should be off on a beach somewhere under a different name living a very different life -- and yet she was still working the same place?
