"ただ前へ" Translation

I have no words right now because I’m basically crying over this song. I listened to it so many times, but it never really hit me this hard until I was trying to break it down and translate it. This is a very, very beautiful song and, rather than being uplifting (which it is too), it makes me feel like I’m in a roomful of wonderful dreams, most likely from the line "やがて花となるでしょう" Well, anyway, I hope you all could understand what I mean if you read this (and listen to the song too, it needs that effect), so I could feel less weird. XDDD

Hey! Say! 7 - ただ前へ (Simply Forward) Translation by chiirashi@tumblr

Simply forward, simply forward, let’s walk on Before long, happiness and sadness will bloom like flowers For what reason are people born and living for? Standing against the blowing wind, all alone, I bit my lip When I’m asked, “what is your dream?” I hate the fact that I can't answer immediately You don’t have to be another person’s version of perfect with your own hands, you are to create your own This is your nameless story, and you are the protagonist You must carve your own path Simply forward, simply forward, let’s walk on There’s a mountain-full of problems. and your worries won’t go away, right? But, just one step, one step, beyond this maze* happiness and sadness will soon bloom like flowers The tears that fall have colors invisible to the eye that’s why I want you to show them to me, with your voice, even if only gradually Upon falling down, I looked up at the sky but my own future was too blurred to see clearly If your heart hurts so much to the point of tears, it’s because you desire something just as much Gently turn over the page, and start anew once again To come to a halt is never a weakness Simply forward, simply forward, let’s walk on To ponder a question without a definite answer** would obstruct your way, right? But at any time, fate can be changed along the way and happiness and sadness will soon bloom like flowers What is blocking the view in front of your eyes is not a wall, but rather a door There’s no need to be afraid, no need to rush With your own hands, grasp onto your own tomorrow Simply forward, simply forward, let’s walk on There’s a mountain-full of problems. and your worries won’t go away, right? But, just one step, one step, beyond this maze happiness and sadness will soon bloom like flowers

*T/N: On this part, they never actually say “maze,” but rather, the word used is , which is “road.” The reason I used maze, however, is because, a maze is a road that makes you feel lost and could frustrate you, and that’s the feeling I believe they were trying to convey previously with “mountain-full of problems” and never-ending worries.

**T/N: In the song, they sing 答え, which translates to “answer,” but the kanji used in the lyrics is 正解, which means “correct answer.” So this line is actually literally translated to “to ponder a question without an answer,” but since I’m translating the lyrics, I used what was written, rather than sang.
