Smol First Encounters

Did more doodles, this time chibi-fied ones with teenage Cesca. These are just doodles based on her first interactions with some of her nakama (some from actual interactions, some from just headcanon). Teen Cesca was simply a smol curious cinnamon jalapeno bun.

◤❀◢ Heat rose to her cheeks out of embarrassment. He was right when he guessed she was new, but that didn’t excuse her not knowing the commander’s name. Or who he was for that matter. Camilla should make a note to ask Rosa for more information on the crew, so such a situation wouldn’t happen again. 

            “Yes, I’m Vastor Camilla. From the sixteenth division.” The girl quickly introduced herself, not sure if she should reach for a hand shake. But her fingers were fidgeting together and refused to separate, so she left it in front of her folded together. 

             “It’s nice to meet you Commander Thatch.”

    ‘ It’s nice to meet you too, kid, ‘ He stifled a laugh when he saw the faint red on her cheeks. He didn’t mind that she hadn’t known his name, as long as she knew his appearance and could find him if things got bad though they rarely did. But it was better to be prepared.

    ‘ And if you’re in the sixteenth then you’re in Izo’s division! ‘ He perked up. Oh, he hoped the two of them got along. ‘ Good luck with him. He’s a nice guy but, boy, does he have a hairline temper. Though it’s hard to stay on his bad side so don’t worry about that. ‘

♪ |    Sadness had flooded the ship since they all found their brother’s corpse lying on the wooden deck; there was nothing any of them could have done to prevent the tragedy that had taken place, to erase one of their own’s betrayal and bring back Thatch — and matters only turned to the worse when another of their own set off after their murderer. 

     Rosa herself couldn’t quite comprehend what happened; to witness one of the commanders she deemed undefeated dead, to lose the brother she had grown to love and realize she would never see his smile again was breaking her heart into smithereens — it ached as she struggled to think straight or even get any sleep; she would toss and turn around in bed sobbing over the auburn haired chef’s demise and praying for her love’s safe return till she couldn’t cry anymore.

     An escape was what she sought when she head out to the bakery with red rimmed eyes and dark circles proving of her weary condition — sweets always had a way of lightening up her mood at least a little bit even though in this case, she wished it had been her brother’s cooking and baked goods she could taste.

     The unwelcoming tone of the woman behind the counter would startle the young pianist, overwhelm displaying behind her indigo optics as nervousness and panic took over her visage — Rosa had often been too shy and sweet to know how to respond to anger if it wasn’t directed at her from someone she was certain to be an enemy.

     ❝I — I am sorry, ma’am..❞ came the hesitant polite response through a soft mellifluous voice. Despite her suspicions and the use of past tense by the older woman, she hoped with all her heart she wasn’t right and the son she spoke of wasn’t who she thought it was, yet even without being certain, the tears began to dwell in her eyes nonetheless as she cried. ❝I’m sorry.. I’m so sorry..❞

     Dahlia hadn’t expected tears from the young woman. Truly, anything but that. She had expected cold words, a few belongings dropped into her hands, and a goodbye. She had seen it done before, not her family or anyone she knew intimately and not anyone from the Whitebeard Pirates, but she had seen a young woman down the street receive that treatment. 

     The young woman’s sobs had echoed for hours and Dahlia had sent June over with food a couple times in the following weeks. She was glad the young woman eventually recovered and found love in a nice young man who worked as a carpenter. However, she knew that she wouldn’t recover. Parents shouldn’t outlive their children.

     ‘ Don’t apologize, ‘ She spoke, voice colder than she would’ve liked. The blonde’s words wouldn’t do her any good. Her son was dead and nothing either of them said would bring him back. A part of her wanted to comfort the young woman, she had to be close in age to her daughters, but she couldn’t. She had failed to comfort her own daughters last night so how could she comfort a stranger? ‘ I have a feeling it wasn’t your fault. From what he said in letters, your crew wouldn’t allow you to leave if you had. ‘

     She paused, hands going to rest on the counter’s edge.

    ‘ How did ... ‘ She bit back tears, her hands gripping the edge of the counter so hard her knuckles turned white. ‘ How did Thatch die? ‘
