"We filmed the music video in a few different locations around the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) and had a blast doing it with our good friend Miguel Barbosa of Yeah! Films. He pushed us out of our comfort zones and really captured our personalities in a way we haven't shown on film before. My favourite scene to film was Jordan Black's (Like Pacific) cameo - it was just hilarious to watch him hit Tom with that hot dog. Not to mention, minutes before that scene some drunk guy tried to steal the camera, not realizing we had a crew of 20 all watching it go down."

"Everyone knows the anecdote about growing up with dreams and desires, and how as we grow, our station in life, friends, loved ones etc can steer us away from what we know we were made for. 'Promises' is a narrative about how one person can steer you away from that path and turn you into something that you never wanted to be. The video mirrors that inner turmoil, and how we torture and kill our true selves trying to find happiness by becoming a facade, in denial who we really are."

“We could’ve made videos for every song because they all have significant meaning and we love them all, but we chose this one in particular because the lyrics express feelings about touring year after year consistently. In the beginning touring is all I wanted to do because I felt that it was all I had. I thought it was the only thing that made me happy. In the last couple years something slightly changed. As I grew I started having regrets in my personal life. I feel there is a lot I’ve missed out on because of the constant traveling, but at the same time I feel very accomplished because of all the things I’ve had the chance to do and see. I wrote most of this song while we were in Toronto recording the record. A lot of my raw emotions were invested into the song. I was very vulnerable and didn’t have much time to filter anything out. To me, this song is kind of my anthem to all different aspects of my life both on and off the road.”

“As a band, we really hope we have successfully built up a tasteful amount of hype for this single and music video. We wanted to go all out for our followers that have been patiently waiting for us to release something since our last release. ‘Things Like This Aren’t Suppose to Happen,’ we believe, is the perfect single to preview our new sound and what is to come with our upcoming EP, ‘Heavy Minds.'”

"Charlatan is so excited to be working with the team over at Revival Recordings. They have been a blast to work with so far, and we can’t wait to share the remarkable things we’ve created for you all. This first single, 'Bone Dance' is a commentary on the desensitization of youth in today’s society, and was written alongside the storyboarding for the music video. We hope you get as much enjoyment out of it as we did creating it, and look forward to meeting you all on our tour with Alesana in February!"
