no like the song imo is about her coming home to her career but she uses the most apt metaphors of all time. whether that was intentional or not is anyone’s guess (i think it was, because it’s sort of about coming home to love too, and figuring out how to open herself back up). so it really is about both.

okay but “my beloved ghost and me, sitting in a tree, d-y-i-n-g” becomes even more devastating when you consider what comes right after the portion of the children’s nursery rhyme taylor modified: “first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes baby in a baby carriage”
