Life update 🌞 I never would have guessed that within a month of moving to my dream city I, along with the rest of the world, would be in the midst of a global pandemic. But I love a challenge! Even with all the uncertainty, I am so happy to be where I am. I knew there would be challenges, and a novel virus is only the tip of the iceberg. I didn’t move out here to be comfortable; I made this change to be happy. I’ve used this unexpected extra time to reflect on what happiness is for me. When I’m working on my passions, I am happy. When I am taking care of my body and mind, I am happy. When I’m confronting my personal struggles and working to better myself, I am frustrated sure, but I’m happy. Life is meant to be lived. Life is meant to be filled with moments of joy, discomfort, tribulation, and success. You make the choices that yield the life you live. It took me a long time to understand that, and I’m still learning. For a long time, I was cautious; scared of making the wrong decision. But change doesn’t come unless you act. And I’ve come to understand that I have always been a weird mix of passive and passionate. It’s a fine line to walk. Today was a long time coming...I went on my first California hike! I enjoyed a 2.6 mile trek, with 456 ft of elevation. My pedometer tells me that’s the equivalent of 24 flights of stairs. Reference for my Joplin peeps: Wildcat’s highest elevation is 177 ft. I’ll be honest, it kind of kicked my butt a little 😅 Here are a few pictures of some pretty things I saw. Chops has been a little anxious this week. I washed the bedsheets and she was convinced we were up and moving again. Ran around in a panic, worrying she was going to be put in her cat carrier, until I put the sheets back on.
