Hello to all of Joey's friends and followers.
This update is from his sister, Vanessa. I am very sorry to be telling you that my brother passed away on August 16th, 2014. He had a serious bicycle accident that resulted in a head injury, which caused his death. He had been drinking heavily and had stopped wearing his helmet for some time. So the worst thing that could happen, did. Our family and friends were able to say our last goodbyes to him in the hospital, and he passed away peacefully, without any pain and surrounded by loved ones.
Joey was one in a billion, just a really marvelous person. Everybody loved him, he was everyone's favorite. He lived like he rode- fast, hard and loving every minute of it. Everyone who knew him will miss his incredible spirit, his smile and his sense of humor, every day of the world.
I know many of you are also cyclists, professionally and recreationally - if you don't already wear a helmet every time you ride, please consider wearing one in honor of Joey's life.

Just know that Joey was an amazing person and he thought the world of each and every one of you.
