Fiona's story:

A week after being back from the holidays, one of my friends texted me asking if I take in stray cats. I told him no, I never had to but I would be willing to. I asked him if he found one that needed help. He told me he did not, but his brother, escaping from a bad home life situation, was moving in with him and his girlfriend. Both of them are severely allergic to cats and shelters were up to their capacity. The cat would literally have to be left outside or sold on Kijiji. I told them I would take it for the time being.

Well, as soon as I met this cat I realized it was no ordinary cat. Fiona is the sweetest kitty I know. She loves Gus, leaves all the small pets alone, and has not hissed, spat, bristled or even raised a paw to anyone or anything. She prefers to sleep on our bed all day, roll around on the floor, and follow us around trilling and being adorable. She LOVES cuddles, sleeps with us at night and likes to play with bathrobe ties.

Originally, her owner rescued her from a friend's house where she was being kept with two chihuahuas who wanted to eat her. She spent all day hiding under the couch. She was starving, unfixed and afraid. He rescued her, fed her, got her needled and spayed and spoiled her like the princess she is. Because of this bond he has with her, I can tell it was really hard for him to give her up to us. He frequently comes to visit her, is paying for all her food and litter and has been so grateful. He's a great guy and I'm happy to watch his cat for as long as he needs us to. (Even forever!)

It's been almost a week and Fiona is adjusting with no problems at all. I think she is going to be very happy here and will be a regular guest on the Pet Club in the future!

After 3 months of waiting for my super hypo tangerine carrot tail baldy (phew), I finally got her. I looked at her and decided she looked like a Persephone. I was elated. She was young and skittish so I started handling her slowly and gently.

Unfortunately she decided to jump ship. This has happened before and I kneeled on the floor to scoop her up and BAM. She ran right into the wall.

Dumbfounded I inspected it only to find a teeny weenie hole that I never would have noticed. I tried to reach in but couldn't. Distraught, I started waiting it out.

The next day, my buddy came over and took off the baseboard to cut into the wall. The hole led to nowhere. That is as far as I've come. I have looked through the house with no avail. I am distraught.

But still, leos can survive a long time without food and water and I'm sure she's finding both insects and drippies around the house. I assume she has stayed indoors where it's warm and I am exhausting all efforts to coax her out of hiding.

Wish me good luck. This is so sad and so hard. I feel like a piece of shit.

Sorry about going AWOL everyone, life's been crazy.

I got back from Christmas break, finished moving, started classes and am now bed (toilet) ridden with stomach flu. Fun! At least it is a chance to update everyone on what's been going on.

We have 2 new additions!

The first was the yellow gecko I had on hold since December if any of you remember. Unfortunately there was an incident posted about here. :(

The second was very unplanned, but everyone meet Fiona the cat! Her story is here

I hope you all are enjoying second semester/january/life.

A formal apology

Hello all,

I feel the need to apologize. Why? Because I had an existential crisis and kicked everyone off this blog.

I was annoyed because people didn't post as often as I wanted to. I then began to dream of a blog on my own. I could post what I want, when I want. I could post pictures of Gus's puke and no one could object. I could post poodle porn for all anyone cared.

Then I realized that this newfound freedom came with a sense of loneliness. In the freedom, I was alone. Yes, I could wander to corners of the universe that no one had ever seen before. The good, the bad and the ugly. But when I laughed, who would laugh with me? When I cried, who would comfort me? When a spam blog followed me, who would make fun of it with me?

After much thought, I am inviting my old members back. That is, if they will take me.

My most humble apologies;

Liz

I recently adopted an amputee kitty, my Zelda, and it turns out she needs her tail amputated ASAP as well in order for her to have a healthy life. Please click the link and read my story. Spreading the word will help, even if you can’t help monetarily. Thank you for your time and support.

Hey, could I ask you guys to spread this around? We’ve had her all of two days and she’s in need of surgery to get her tail removed. Already with only three legs, one more surgery until she’s all better. Please help us give Zelda another chance.
