Wolf’s guide to picking up women

Step 1:

(Attempt to) eat her grandmother.

Step 2: Dates!

  • 1st Date: Let her stroke your tail.
  • 2nd Date: It’s the full moon! Make her tie you up so your wolf instincts don’t take over. Then have her represent you in court for murder (it wasn’t you, but you did eat the chickens).
  • 3rd Date: Win a jackpot and propose to her with a ring you bought with the money that’s supposed to get her home.

Step 3:

Rejection :(

Step 4:

She professes her love after you save her and her father from the evil swamp 🥰🥰🥰

Step 5:

Hide-and-seek foreplay 😏 with growling

Step 6:

Pretend to betray her and her father to the Evil Queen. Reveal to her you swapped the poison with sleep dust.

Step 7:

Tell her she’s pregnant with your child and propose to her again!

Congratulations! You did it!

Whoever was in charge of the costume department for The 10th Kingdom, I just want to say bless you and I hope you and your children have good health and happiness for 100 years because of your commitment to make Scott Cohen as hot and prince charming-coded as possible. Y'all fed us SO well.

Edward Woodward wore this page costume and its duplicates as Drunlo and various extras playing Lilliputian pages in the 1996 NBC miniseries Gulliver’s Travels, starring Ted Danson in the title role. They later appeared as the uniforms of the 4th Kingdom royal court pages in the 2000 miniseries The 10th Kingdom, which also appeared on NBC.

Speaking of the 10th kingdom!

Anyone watched it, ever think about how Wolf keeps his word with Virginia- like, all of them. But not one word with the queen?

The queen ones are obvious, all of them about him being hers to control but nOPE! He goes off and has therapy, then gets a girlfriend, has a cringe-fail proposal dinner then double crosses the queen!

But Virginia?

The two that stick for me is him saying she’d always be safe with this wolf and how he’d always catch her- and if he didn’t he’d stay by her bedside and nurse her back to health.

I think both have stayed true. He’s come to her rescue most of the time, and has lead her through the 9 kingdoms to the best of his abilities (which, excluding the Huntsman’s involvement, wolfs own wolfy-cycle and the first wedding proposal, he’s been really good at keeping Virginia and her father out of trouble)

And for the second one, he’s been catching her for the most part in the mini series. He missed her when it came to proposing to her and spending all that money- but he came back to catch her again with the deadly swamp.

To Virginias eyes he dropped her when he walked over to the queens side- but with Wolf switching sides being a reality or not, he was still sitting at Virginia’s bedside waiting for her to wake up. Each time he missed or dropped her (all metaphorically, of course) he did something for Virginia to make up for it.

Which normally I’d say is a shacky relationship statues, but Wolfs record shows that he’d barely let her fall and when she would he’d do more then enough to help her back on her feet.

He’s a silly little guy who’s had extensive therapy to get better for the girl of his dreams. If thats not top-tier simping behavior I don’t know what is.

Saw a bit of 10th Kingdom trivia that said that Wolf’s outfit resembles the suit of Tex Avery’s wolf. I don’t really see it, but apart from that I do agree that 10th Kingdom Wolf is very Tex Avery wolf coded.

Broke: Wolf didn’t say anything when Virginia told him she loved him because he was feeling guilty and conflicted about the future “betrayal”.

Woke: Wolf didn’t say anything when Virginia confessed to him because he spent his whole life being seen as a monster by everyone, he’s only learned like 3 weeks ago that being in love and being hungry were not, in fact the same feeling, he’s never been in a relationship before, and he’s already messed things up with Virginia once. Dude just had no idea how to react to being told he was loved for the first time in his life, and he also was probably afraid of saying the wrong thing and ruining the moment.

I love that the version of Snow White we get in this show is older and fatter than how she's portrayed in most other adaptations.

I get that technically it's Snow White's ghost, and she says herself that she's more of a fairy godmother type of character now.

But they could have chosen a young and conventionally pretty actress for this part and it wouldn't have changed anything to the story, so I'm glad they still decided to go in this direction.

And considering how goofy this show is a lot of the time and how so much of it makes fun of fairy tales tropes, they could have very easily gone all "haha look Snow White is old and fat now, isn't that funny". But instead, the scene where we see her is one of the strongest emotional moments of the entire series, and it's played 100% straight.

Idk, this show is far from perfect, but this is one thing that honestly still feels very refreshing to see even twenty years after it first came out.
