Can we take a moment to show a little appreciation for the loveliness that is the Little White Dress? Like it’s sister garment, the little black dress, it’s a closet essential appropriate for any season. But the summer time is when the lush white dress is most refreshing and shines the brightest. In any fabric (but preferably chiffon or cotton), it creates a level of elegance requiring little effort.
Somehow an all-white ensemble exudes a quiet power. It commands attention without trying too hard and lastly, it’s just so dang easy to style!
Please say you own an LWD and have already strutted your stuff in it this summer. No?
The best fashion rule there is, is kind of an easy one: You can always break the rules! Never feel like its not an appropriate time to dress up. If it’s a casual Wednesday and you feel like stepping out in a showstopping skirt, then showstopping skirt it is!

...of a cute denim look! A casual top, denim jeans and a smile always seem to do the trick. Add in a staple bag and it’s an approachable look that’s also well put together and ever so chic.
Easy add-ons that complete the outfit for summer? Sunglasses and sandals, always.

Everyone knows the main rule for wedding style (when it isn’t YOUR wedding) is that you never upstage the bride. And I get it. When you’re so effortlessly fabulous (as all of our Chicwishers are), that’s actually a difficult feat. But you can do it. When pulling together a wedding look, go for a simplistic ensemble that makes you look beautiful, but doesn’t steal the show. This means no ball gowns, no Kentucky Derby hats and no Beyonce-esque sheer selections. This is the bride’s Met Gala. It’s your..hmm..awards show of sorts. Opt for nudes and pastels and do honor the rule that says you shouldn’t wear all white.
A full-on white ensemble is for the blushing beauty gliding down the aisle to meet her beau. A creamy, champagne white (with a few flowers for added measure) is what’s in order for you if you’re going that route. You can certainly shine while still letting her own her day.

But they don’t have to be. Yes, the first day of the work week means the weekend is so close (party’s over!) but so far away (4 more days until the next turn up time).
However, fashion (and a few other Monday essentials) have helped me to stop moping and start getting motivated.
1. Prep for the day to your favorite tunes.
No, not the Mariah Carey album that still makes you cry. Select that one album in high school that always makes you happy or the latest album that always makes you feel uber excited.
2. Lose that stuffy work attire.
This doesn’t mean head out in all out hip-hop wear, but seriously. it’s summer time and yes, you have work to attend to but you don’t have to burn up (and look boring) in a stuffy business suit or the traditional button-down and slacks get-up. Do yourself a favor and find cool ways (literally) to look appropriate for work. Start with a relaxed top, add in cropped slacks and then conclude your ensemble with menswear-inspired shoes that serve as a trendy but polished look.
What do you think? Would you use fashion to step your Mondays up?
