More female action figures!

I saw an article the other day, the director of Guardians of the Galaxy 2 said he wanted to more sure that there were more female figures released with the movies toys.

THAT WOULD BE FANTASTIC!

However, toy companies keep saying that customers (boys) don't buy female action figures.

EXCUSE ME.

I realize that I am now a man but as a child I had every Princess Leia action figure they produced. That includes the “girl” targeted ones with the cloth clothing.

I would have loved to get my hands on a Baroness, Lady Jay, Jinx or Cover girl GI Joe figures. I was lucky enough to own a Scarlet GI Joe who had ninja moves and kicked arse.

I always wanted the Teela, Evil- Lyn or Sorceress Masters of the Universe figures. Not to mention the She-ra figures, sure they were a little easier to get but not much.

I snatched up the Janine Real Ghostbusters figure as soon as I had money.

I was the envy of my ninja turtle loving friends as a child when I got an April O’Neil action figure. I was once again the envy of my ninja turtle loving friends by getting my hands on the new April O’Neil figure from Nics new cartoon. I always wanted an Arcee Transformer especially seeing as she was a main character in the 80′s movie. Most of the female action figures I wanted as a kid are now hard to come by on the secondary market and can be fairly expensive. Do you know why? 'Cos I'm not the only one who wanted female action figures!

Stop The Cheating: Learn What Are The Emotional Affair Signs to Pay Attention To

Since human beings are very complex creatures, romantic relationships are naturally complex affairs. In nearly all relationships, there will come a time when one of the people involved will notice the signs of an emotional affair in their partner. The advent of the Internet has made it incredibly easy to go outside of a relationship and meet potential partners. By the time you discover that your partner is involved in an online emotional affair, it could be too late to save the relationship.

In order to learn about the various Emotional Affair Signs, you need to know what one is. An emotional affair takes place when a partner goes outside of the marriage and invests their emotions, feelings, and thoughts with another person. It is an affair without any physical contact, but with all the emotional aspects of a romance.

Just because there is no sexual or physical contact doesn’t mean you should be complacent. If you are blind to the signs of an emotional affair, your relationship could be in danger, plain and simple. This is because a person has just so much emotional energy that can be invested in romantic relationships and if one partner is spending this energy with someone outside of the relationship, there will be less emotional energy to spend within the marriage.

If your husband is involved in an emotional affair, you may find that the two of you are talking, but not really sharing. You are talking about the weather, the bills, and your children, but you are no longer sharing your experiences, emotions, or thoughts. Your husband may have put himself in a position where he has to choose which relationship he spends his emotional energy in. If he chooses you over the other woman, your marriage can be saved. However, if he’s totally engrossed in an emotional affair, which he might be if you’ve ignored the signs, he will likely choose the other woman.

Don’t think emotional adultery doesn’t eventually become a full fledged extramarital affair, because the risk of this happening is very great. It is just human nature to want to spend time with the ones we love and that includes progressing to a physical relationship.

To keep your marriage strong, you should always be watching for emotional affair signs and confront your husband when you have suspicions. You may need to professional help to identify the signs of emotional adultery and to help the two of you cope with the fallout and repair your marriage. Here are a few of the common signs you should be alert for:

- Your husband suddenly takes an interest in improving his appearance, even when he is at working on the computer at home. Don’t automatically assume your husband’s desire to look good is just for your benefit.

- There seems to be no sex because your husband is too busy, too tired, or too distracted by his online affair.

- You no longer have meaningful conversations with your spouse where you discuss your emotions and feeling with each other.

- You husband has become secretive and defensive about his online activities.

If you notice two or more of the above Emotional Affair Signs, you should suspect your marriage might be in trouble. Take steps to save your marriage by seeking professional help before it is too late.

Already confronted my partner about this, wish that the other persons partner would do the same. Most of the time I can’t say any thing about this because I still get the response “but he’s just my best friend, you’re just jealous”.

Situation in Martin Place

I have to say I was a little worried today. I have a friend who works in a building in martin place. Sent him a message to find that he decided to chuck a sicky today. My dad is a courier in Sydney and will step out and grab a coffee at different places. I called him and he had been having car trouble so headed home early. My partners mum works for city rail and gets posted to different sydney train stations. Got a call from her saying she wasn't anywhere near that part of town. I have been watching the ABC news which I found much more calming then the channel 7 news which is very sensational. I like that the ABC are trying to work with the facts rather than hypothesize on what motives are as well as number of hostages. Unfortunately people have the ability to be horrible to other human beings regardless of their religious beliefs (I had to explain this to my Dad over the phone <he's a different generation>). Our thoughts should be with the poor people stuck in the cafe and their family and friends who will be up worrying about them tonight. If nothing else we should all be "excellent to each other"  That is something we can all get behind. *A

Guardians of the Galaxy

I went and saw the Guardians of the Galaxy movie on Saturday thanks to one of the guys at work (he had tickets but couldn't go). I have to say that I enjoyed it. In the lead up I stayed away from the trailer and all reviews so I had no expectations.

While I was dubious about the casting I thought that they all played their parts rather well. That being said I'm not totally across all the GoG back story but the way it played out I didn't have to be. I will admit that the sound track of 70's and 80's music did start to grate on me towards the end but I could see why they went that way.

I did like that when the see the collector (oh yeah spoiler... but not really) in his collection is a dark elf and Cosmo (the dog in the space suit) who is a Guardian of the Galaxy in some of the older comics. I'm glad that I got to see it with a bunch of people who were clearly excited to see it, unlike Captain America 2 (I had people sitting behind me talking the whole time, well at least until I used some harsh words) Totally worth having a look at if you get the chance, now if only I could get some of the figures. *A

Odd dream

Had an odd dream last night. I dreamt  that I put a sticker on each day of the calender that I visited a comic book shop. Sure not so odd... however I flicked back through the months and when I got to February all of the stickers were of Nathan Fillion. I haven't been watching Firefly, Castle, Buffy or 2 guys a girl and a pizza place so I'm not sure where this came from. Also where do I get stickers of Nathan Fillion from? A

Save the Fearless Defenders!!!!

As you will find out as you read my blog I love comics. LOVE them. However, I was given some disappointing news the other day. One of Marvels newest titles is being given the axe.  "So what?" I hear you say. It is a little comic called the Fearless Defenders, whose cast is made up of Valkyrie, Misty Knight, Danni Moonstar, Clea,Dr  Annabelle Riggs, Hippolyta and Elsa Bloodstone.

Fearless Defenders is a great comic. Marvel is cancelling it at issue 12 due to “poor sales” and I find that a real shame. Fearless defenders is a great comic for so many reasons. -It is a team of strong characters who have an interesting dynamic, it comprises of old and new characters in the marvel universe. -It is probably the most ethnically and sexually diverse comic put out by marvel at the moment (with the possible exception of Kieron Gillens Young Avengers). Creating a wider target audience and giving the reader a character to identify with. (that’s my thoughts on the matter any way, I’m sure some will disagree).

-It has an interesting premise and storyline which would only get stronger if marvel stopped having these ‘events’ every few months. -It is what I like to call a gateway comic.   As in opens you/me/first time reader to the marvel universe. Perhaps I should give an example: My partner loves DC comics (aside from the inherent sexism, her words)  the way I generally love marvel. I kept raving about how awesome Fearless Defenders was and in the end decided to pick up an issue which led to her getting  ALL the issues. Sure that doesn’t define it as a gate way how ever after she started reading it I would get “so what’s Vals story?” To which I told her about the fearless which she picked up.  Only months after starting Fearless defenders My partner is now also reading: Red She-Hulk, Journey into Mystery and FF (which she didn’t like but gave it a try). She also read Fear itself and now wants to know about Kid Loki (who is awesome ). It is comics like Fearless Defenders that get new readers in and makes the old readers who are jaded about the number of Spiderman/x men/ Avengers comics want to keep reading. Before the awesomeness of the Fearless Defenders My gate way comic was the New Mutants. The New mutants was an x men title in 2009 which re-sparked my interest in comics. It was cancelled at 50, I bought every issue and the graphic novels. I was mad as hell but what could I do? So often when things like this are caned we can’t do anything or at least feel we can’t. What I would like to suggest is if you are a Fan of Fearless Defenders write to marvel at: mheroes@marvel.com. Tell them why you love it. Tell them your mad as hell and not going to take it anymore! But be polite. J   Thank you for reading my ramble. *A
