When you pour perfectly clear water over just a few spoons of hot chocolate powder, and it turns into a rich dark liquid that you can't even see through! Might as well be magic!
Pianos! Saxophones! All kinds of musical instruments! People thrpughout history put so much time and effort and trial and error JUST into inventing contraptions for the soul purpose of making a really nice noise, because it makes people feel good!
The world is incredible. Humans are incredible. Take the time to remember that.
One of my favorite presentations I ever did was about how impressive the can is as an engineering concept. A simple lever pressing down on a surface to crack it along preplanned paths, combined with an aluminum cylinder maximizing sanitation, comfortable shape, function, affordability and packing. Utterly amazing that we've made so many.

On that note, I want to spotlight the fundraiser for an Afro-Palestinian journalist, and Lama Jamous' uncle. He has less of a following amongst allies because he posts almost entirely in Arabic, so I'm going to spotlight him on my blog and put him on the fundraiser list as well.
And please follow him on IG as well, even if you only speak English he has small captions on the videos he posts that translate his Arabic.

what sort of abilities do you think Gèrard would have? I imagine him as a DPS with a similar kit to Spy from TF2, but what are your thoughts?
Considering that, at least to me, he is very much a reference to the classic spy genre, like James Bond, I think Gerard would have a lot of espionage esc abelites. Especially because his role in Blackwatch was most likely infiltration and espionage (Cassidy being the backup for that role), so abilities that allowed for distraction and quick escape would make sense.
I also see people making him a sniper? Which isn't canon (he uses a hand gun) and I don't personally see him being a sniper for any other reason then Widow is a sniper. But something I do think he'd have that would be similar to Widow is a spider mine ability. Though I think he'd have more then Widow does.
Another thing I think he'd have is a smoke bomb, I see it being a area of affect ability that blinds characters who enter it and also makes it hard to see into. Not only does it fit the spy theming but also my writer brain goes brrr cause this would probably counter Widow pretty well.
Anyway I don't know what his Ultimate would be, maybe like you said and he could be like Spy and turn into someone from the opposing team but I don't think that kind of ability would work unless it also allowed friendly fire. Maybe something that makes himself and whoever is in range undetectable? Kind of like a mass invisibility?
As for main weapons, primary fire would be just a regular hand gun, and his secondary weapon would be throwing knives? Why throwing knives? I looked up other's interpretations of a playable Gerard and a lot of them had knives.

That being said if James Derry Girls did come out as a trans woman I think the girls would be supportive for all of like 2 seconds before being like "You may be a woman Jane but [disgusted glare] you'll never stop being English"
I think the episode where James Derry Girls comes out as trans would have the girls be overenthused in their support and try to teach her about girly activities, only to reveal that 1) none of them are actually that good at the activities they think all girls should be able to do and 2) they can't really even reach a consensus on the activities that they think all girls can do. James is debating between various new names but keeps getting shut down because they're either a) Irish names b) people insist that the names are Irish even when they're not, because they know an Irish person with that name, or c) she keeps picking names associated with a terrible event in Irish history and after a while Michelle loses it and goes "For fuck's sake you may as well go by Margaret Thatcher." Orla casually reveals an encyclopedic knowledge of trans culture and politics but gives no satisfactory response when asked how she knows any of those things and also keeps forgetting what pronouns are and asks James about her preferred adverbs
