General announcement on what's going on with me and my nonexistent update schedule:

During the month of January, I worked on polishing up some original samples of my writing in order to apply to three different writer's workshops across the country. All of them are highly selective, so my chances of being admitted aren't high, but in the event that I am, I can be expected to be absent either during June and July or from about August through November.

As for right now, I have been granted the correct focus for my original works, so that is what I'll be writing until I get tired of it or suddenly feel an intense desire to swap back to TiWWaN (which, as we all know, could happen at any time).

As always, thank you all so much for your support! It means far more to me than I can tell you.

OC Questionnaire

Never done one of these before but nevertheless, here's some details about my latest oc (can't stop drawing her help)

Name: Josie Gallo

Gender: Female

Height: 5'3"

Orientation: Sees herself as straight/a little bicurious (has had romantic feelings toward women)

Nationality/ethnicity: Italian-American

Occupation: Mailwoman (takes her job WAY too seriously)

Favorite season: Autumn

Favorite scent: Fresh-cut grass

Average hours of sleep: 5, but she can get by on much less.

Dogs or cats: Both, though she’s a little iffy of very large dogs.

Personality: Positive, energetic, hot-headed, generous, says what’s on her mind.

How easy is it to make them angry? She can get extremely angry in a flash, usually about minor things, and then chills out completely after a few minutes.

Where are they from? Boston.

Do they have any pet peeves? When people don’t keep their mailboxes free of spiders and other critters.

Have they ever broken any bones? If yes, how? Broke her hand in middle school punching a bully.

Do they have a “type” that they are usually attracted to? Smiley, golden retriever-type men. Appearances don’t matter too much to her, but she prefers the company of older people, as long as they're fun to be around.

Do they have any favorite possessions? Her postal service uniform (she’s a little too proud of it).

Do they have a certain skill that they’re particularly proud of? She’s very physically strong from carrying heavy packages all day, and she’s quite proud of her strength, especially considering her small stature, and she’ll never turn down a chance to show this off.

Do they have any personal insecurities? Being short. She’ll fight someone about it if they tease her enough.

Is there anything that immediately instills fear in them? Spiders and rain-soaked mail.

What is the weirdest thing your oc has ever eaten? Anchovies straight out of the tin (for protein).

How easy is it for your character to laugh? Very easy. She tries not to take things too seriously.

Do they consider laws flexible, or immovable? Very flexible.

What is their preferred mode of transportation? Her mail truck, though she also enjoys jogging around.

How do they treat the things their friends come to them excited about? Are they supportive? 100% supportive, no matter what it is, even if it’s stupid or crazy (she’s a little crazy herself).

Do they actively seek romance, or do they wait for it to fall into their lap? Enjoys flirting for fun, but actually will not seek romance unless it’s right in her path (or she falls insanely in love).

How are they in a relationship? Pretends not to be affectionate in the beginning, but ends up being extremely affectionate and romantic, usually in a cheesy way.

Seeing Ghostbuster’s Afterlife has reminded me how much TF2 Medic is inspired by Egon Spengler and that kinda makes me think about the implications of his equipment.

Like, the medigun being a backpack with a hose attached that shoots out ropey healing beams that lock onto people is pretty similar to a proton pack and its particle beams which lock onto ghosts and hold them in place. I think I remember seeing a video once explaining that there were some files found in Source Film Maker that indicated originally Medic was just a random brewmeister who made the medigun out of parts found in the distillery he worked at and I feel like if that was true it checks out with the Ghostbuster’s connection since the design philosophy behind all their equipment was that it was homemade out of repurposed parts.

Then there’s the reanimator, which is near identical to a ghost trap, which makes me wonder about how it really functions. In-game I don’t think it’s explained at all. It just appears on the ground whenever you die, opens, and displays a holographic silhouette of your body, which the medigun can then lock onto in order to revive you. In the comics, it’s implied this device doesn’t exist, since Medic is only able to revive Sniper after hours of extensive surgery, but it’s also implied that the only reason it was even possible was because he’d stolen all the merc’s souls so they couldn’t move onto the afterlife even if their bodies were damaged beyond what would normally be survivable. So, what if in the context of the game, (which is meant to be based on the real lives of the nine mercs shown in the comics) Medic is able to revive people because the reanimator is essentially the same thing as a ghost trap. Instead of grafting his friends’ souls to himself, he put them in a containment unit which was designed to open when their bodies were destroyed, so that even if they’d been blown to bits or reduced to ash there would still be something anchoring them to the world of the living. Maybe those holograms aren’t really holograms at all, but the merc’s actual souls, which act as a sort of blueprint or mold through which Medic can either generate entirely new bodies from scratch or reassemble severed gibs into an in-tact living body. And what if that’s how the medigun has always worked? When you lock your beam onto someone, you’re really attached to their very soul?

people telling you they reread your fic is the biggest compliment you could ever receive. there are thousands of stories out there begging to be found, to be explored, but your story meant so much to someone that they came back to it eagerly, they went over every word again. to love is to return and loving a fic is rereading it. thank you to all readers and rereaders <3333
