the irony of this year's met gala theme being based on a short story about cloistered, decadently-dressed aristocracy desperately pillaging the natural resources at their disposal to hold the advancing tide of the restless underclass at bay is honestly baffling

4th annual day of my partner & i advocating for our safety in court. please send your strongest most powerful prayers (or whatever) ❤️

i always feel like i must add a bunch of explanations and disclaimers about what's gone on (many years of DV) and what i think of the system (negatively. i think negatively of it) but i'm so beyond fried... you'd think i'd get used to it but at no point has it been or become easier. the fear of it happening is equal only to the fear of it not happening. just gotta get through it.

thank you so much for being so kind. it goes a long long way even just toward feeling less alone when all we have are ourselves.

the judge "believed us" but unfortunately after throwing everything at the wall for years, our abuser looked under the right rock and produced the right upstanding character witnesses, and so the protective orders weren't extended. awful system. awful to everyone which is why we avoided it for as long as we could, from 2016 to 2021. it was a last resort when other avenues failed. we knew it wouldn't work in our favour— for whom does it "work" but the kind of person who menaced us? (never has been, never will experience the fear, or marginalisation, or loss of community, scrutiny, humiliation, of which he's done to us.) so in this instance... i have no compassion for him or the people who chose to stand with him. hoping it'll get better though, despite this. hoping, hoping.

do people even know the extent of sanctions on the iranian people? my mom's family can't afford fruit anymore. it's a state of psychological warfare; literally nobody living there has any sort of hope for the future. added sanctions from the EU are going to destroy the lives of 87 million innocent people

as my cousin put it: "there is no point to saving up out of uncertainty that it will be worth anything in a month. what investments can you make in the future when you can't even be sure how much food will cost tomorrow? this isn't living." there are, of course, absolute shortages as well—my late grandmother experienced a period of deterioration because the medicine she needed was just not available. many such cases.

greatest person in my life best friend and partner ANKA @kingfisher-cove was born this blessed day of fools so i'm shining a big spotlight on their fool ass. there's so much i could and want to say and none of it would be enough. us meeting and living together and hanging out was a series of powerful coincidences and then we just never stopped hanging out. the funniest kindest most clever, most generous, steadfast and curious, they deserve every good thing in the world— the world is so much better with them in it. i've loved every single day we spend together. we haven't been able to go on many adventures since the pandemic, but everything, no matter how small, is so exciting to experience, even nothing at all. imagine being comfortable with someone in any setting, no matter what. yes. it's so good.

Anka does half of all the work required for SUPERPOSE. they write and draw it with me, and they're responsible for most of the snail mail we send out. unbelievable skill.

they totally expanded and exploded what i thought art could be, and making projects together is the biggest motivator for doing it at all. i love making them laugh and yell when i/we come up with something new and they're ALWAYS making me laugh and yell.

i can't begin to predict what i'd be doing now if things shook out differently, but it was one of those crossroad moments where i thought my life was set up to be one thing and then i realised... it didn't have to be. i can at the very least say i wouldn't be close to the artist i am now, with all this passion and excitement for discovery, in great part because i get to live that— as a verb, as a language— with them. life's been the opposite of easy for a long time now, as we just try to secure something quiet and calm. and i wouldn't be anywhere else. i wish everything be gentle, and the world give in kind even some of what Anka's put into it. i mean what a crazy gift to ME, that i get to love them. everyone should.

stop. don’t hype up leo varadkar. for the love of god, we’ve been protesting and striking AGAINST him visiting biden for fuck’s sake, and for ireland to side w south africa in the icj. the irish government are no better than himself, and it is the people of ireland who have been consistently outspoken against israel, not leo the fucking leak.

on st. patrick’s day this year, thousands of people lined up along the river Liffey in dublin city centre, to protest against our own government refusing to take any direct action against israel, while our leaders fucked off to party with Biden for the weekend.

i have no patience for people talking about violent rhetoric on the left really because every day i read the news and every politician in this country and in most others is saying 'we gotta kill more people'. they use different words to say it. obviously you're not supposed to just say 'we gotta kill more people'. but there's all kinds of polite and okay ways to say it.

'we need to control our borders' is a phrase which here means 'we gotta kill more people, we gotta drown more refugees in boats, we gotta send more people back to warzones and governments that want them dead, we gotta make more camps and we gotta make the camps more fatal'.

'we need to be tougher on welfare fraud' is a phrase which here means 'we gotta kill more people, we gotta make disabled people do more song and dance routines to convince some indifferent bureaucrat that they deserve to eat and we gotta make sure that the bureaucrats say 'no', we gotta starve those kids more, we gotta make sure families and kids and old people are freezing in the winter'.

'we need to tackle violent crime' is a phrase which here means 'we gotta kill more people, specifically Black people, unless we said Terrorism instead of Crime, in which case it's specifically muslims, shoot them, imprison them, surveil them, disappear them, brutalize them, whatever.'

and of course none of this is Violent Speech. this is Sensible Political Discourse. these are Common-Sense Policy Goals. we gotta kill more people: that's an electable policy. you can always count on we gotta kill more people as a platform. we gotta kill more people is gonna sweep the nation baby. we gotta kill more people 2024 -- vote now on your phones. now slow down. hold your horses. did that guy just say we gotta kill more people? well that just wont do. thats why im running on a platform of we gotta kill more people for cheaper, to stop this wasteful madness. and the people just keep dying but seems like there's still some of them left so i guess we're just circling back around to our main thing which is: we gotta kill more people
