PHASE 2 and PHASE 3 of Robot Heart’s Further Future 002 Festival.

This shit is going to be one of the books. It has the most stunning, intelligent dance music lineup of any festival this year and I can’t wait to see what the legendary Burning Man camp does with year two of their own festival.

Burning Man got too big for you and you just want to go into the desert with less responsibilities and better music? Like way better music.

Well this is the festival for you.  With additions like &me, derrick carter, oneohtrix point never, THE PHARCYDE and lee burridge added to an already mind-blowing lineup that includes Four Tet, Nicolas Jaar, DJ Tennis and Crazy P this is going to be one for the books. Novels.

Like literally, I’m going to go to this one and write a fucking novel.

Maybe the book is exclusively about me traveling from Denver to Nevada all by myself just to see legenedary British electronic act Leftfield doing a rare performance at Further Future this spring. This is their first US appearance outside Coachella 2011 in over 15 years and their new album sounds bonkers. ‘Alternative Light Source’, has already been dubbed “a masterpiece of texture” by The Observer and revered for its “pulse-quickening beats, widescreen instrumentals and satisfyingly chunky electro” by The Independent.

Um holy shit, they’re one of the last gets in Kurt’s Legends of Dance Music Pokemon card series. But have The Chemical Brothers or Fatboy Slim ever been described as “The single most influential production team in British dance music by Mixmag? It don’t think so.

Lightning in a Bottle Flash Sale... get em while they’re goddamn hot.

Lightning in a Bottle is an absolutely amazing place.  I haven’t been back for real since my first year in 2013 and am dying to spend a full weekend up at their  gorgeous new location in Bradley, CA.  I had the fortunate luck to be able to sneak in for an afternoon this year and get a glimpse of everything that is waiting for me in 2016.

If I were you, and I AM, I would get your butt to your computer on Tuesday, January 4th at 10AM... (so SOON!) and get your ticket at the Rush-N-Get-Em pricing of $245.

While you’re at it, why don’t you make sure you get an Early Arrival pass. That means you can show up Wednesday, claim the best camping spot on the grounds (aka right by the Woogie...) and get exclusive access to speakers, workshops and yoga before you get partying and forget to do any of the wellness shit you promised yourself you’d do at this one.

The Temple of Consciousness, Village and Learning Kitchen will be the main focus during the day on Wednesday, hosting speakers, workshops, yoga and classes with special celebrations in the evenings. The Grand Artique will also be in full effect on Wednesday with their signature brand of frontier trading and shenanigans. I GOT MAD LOVE FOR THE GRAND ARTIQUE.  They inspired Soundbleed to be what Soundbleed is. Silliness at a Festival? YES Please.  Music will be added in on Thursday via the Favela and Pagoda Bar with Friday opening up to the rest of the stages and festival activities. This is exactly like Shambhala and I don’t have enough good shit to say about how this works.

This is the perfect transition from real life to festival mode.  By the time Friday rolls around with it’s (i’m SURE amazing lineup) you’ll be so deep in the festival you won’t even know you once came from real society. And then once Monday comes, you’ll actually be ready to leave.  Feeling both refreshed and party satisfied!

Purchase festival passes starting at 10AM January 4th via the Lightning in a Bottle website. There will be a limited number of the new Early Arrival Passes available - get one while they last!

SEE YA THERE, CAUSE WE BOTH AIN’T SQUARE!

Okay friends...

It’s really really time for you to join me and my wife and come to the greatest funky forest rave you can ever dream of, okay?  I know the first year you couldn’t believe I was driving 24 hours to Canada just to see Bassnectar (jk) and the second year you still weren’t so sure, but now let’s get serious alright?

Look at that BEAUTIFUL after movie.  Sorry I’m late to sharing it, but it’s an emotional journey to look at your home and now you can’t go back until August.  I had to put myself into a place where I could feel that pain and not want to jump off a bridge (jk(?)).

So shut up and buy your tickets.  I know it’s hard, we live in America and it’s in a whole ‘other country, but they say the only ones who make it to Shambhala are the ones who find their own way.

Shambhala will be returning to Canada’s Salmo River Ranch homestead for its 19th year from August 5th - 8th, 2016. Early bird tickets are available NOW through Shambhala’s website where you can find further festival information. Secure a ticket before they sell out!

Please. please join me this year.  I’ll see you up North?

We Are Symbiosis

From Sep 17-20 in Oakdale, CA, just a couple of hours east of San Francisco, a beautiful gathering of like minded souls, artists, musicians, dancers and people will come together for a beautiful weekend at Symbiosis Gathering.

Though I myself have not been to this place all of my friends (whom I trust very much. I don’t trust all of them either, but these ones YA) have had nothing but the most glowing things to say about every aspect of this transformational universe. Their feedback, compounded by one of the most beautiful line-ups in the country (Nicolas Jaar, Tipper, Four Tet, Shpongle, Damian Lazarus and the Ancient Moons (I could literally go on and name everybody, but I won’t cause that would be absurd and unhelpful) this is a festival that I cannot miss.

Symbiosis Gathering has been releasing episodes to a documentary series entitled We Are Symbiosis. It is directed by the award-winning director of ‘American Recycled’, Noah Hussin.  They have released four of their fourteen episodes in their video series.  What better way to get to know a festival than to get to know some of the people who make up the community? hey are astounding looks into the wide array of attendees and participants in this beautiful festival environment, their careers, their visions and their takes on life and Symbiosis.

Above I have showcased episode four, featuring tattoo artist Philip Milic.  Philip is also part of the festival’s Elemental Alchemy Visual Arts Program and designed the ticketing artwork. This guy is an incredible artist and has the best things to say about art, creativity and our bodies as canvases. I would really love to learn more about his art from him at the festival. Maybe I can weasel my way into his course in the Elemental Alchemy Visual Arts Program.

The other three episodes are just as fantastic. Check out Jonathan Youtt, Sustainability Education PioneerBrian Wallace the botanist and Naomi Charanpal a Kundalini Yoga Instructor.  I know my fiancee is going to go nuts for Naomi’s calming take on Kundalini and making yourself whole and content. Enjoy!

I CANNOT wait to see the other ten videos in this fantastic series and meet these beautiful people at the festival this fall! What are cool and unique way to get me excited for this festival. Killin’ the game SYMBIOSIS!

The PAGODA.

This is as close to a mainstage that Shambhala gets.  This year they’re going absolutely fucking nutty.

Friday is a Dirtybird Takeover (I’ll be there ALL fucking day.) Saturday is getting FUNKY with Pretty Lights and GRiZ Sunday we get tropical chillout with thomas jack and kygo and bakermat.

the coolest thing in the world is that they aren’t announcing their “saturday night headliner until the second they walk out on stage.”

um I’ll be there. count me in. I like surprises.

I got theories out the ASS too. private message me if you want me insane festival ramblings.

When I see those lazers go off this is gonna truly feel like I’m home again.

The Grove at Shambhala is the Hippie Bass Chillout stage.  this is a forest little wonderland that’s shaded all weekend long and the perfect place to set up your eno hammock and listen to chill as shit.

unless of course you’re actually trying to sleep sunday night monday morning to brave the 26 hours drive back to Los Angeles and you wake up in Sleep Paralysis to the sounds of “Pagan Cult Music” OR White Bear thinking you’re going to die.

excited as fuck to double down on tipper here though.

More about SHAMBHALA -- my favorite festival in the whole wide world.com

The Living Room is the stage next to the river-- so you basically chill in the lake all fucking day and listen to the best goddamn dub, downtempo, disco funk and groovy house this side of the kootenanny mountains.

tipper has TWO sets here and DJ Harvey i been TRYING to see for years now. I’m really really excited about this. Tipper is basically my headliner at Shambhala this year.  can’t wait to see him in a lake right bout round sunset.
