History Made! All the looks from the FIRST Plus Size line ever shown at New York Fashion Week.
Last Friday I had the honor of attending the Fashion Law Institute’s runway show in the tents of Lincoln Center. It was an exciting personal first for me - I’d never been to #MBFW before - but I was even more excited for the event itself, because it was truly a historical moment: Designer Eden Miller was showing the spring collection of her gorgeous line Cabiria, and was the first plus size designer to ever present as an official part of New York Fashion Week.
The clothes did not disappoint, either: Beautiful construction, bold prints (a favorite of mine, if you haven’t noticed), and a serious and gorgeous attention to detail. I am currently crushing hard on the perfectly-done mixed prints, and loving the patterned ivory frock.
After the show (and the emphatic cheers), Miller was mobbed by the press, and the attendees all discussed the designs. One of the most frequent comments I heard was how wonderful it was that Miller was showing something new, not the frumpy cuts and tired prints so often found in plus clothing. I couldn’t agree more. Her eye for prints is incredible, and paired with the obvious high quality of her work, I am saving up for my first Cabiria dress of my own.
