if youre adhd/autistic (or both like this dude here) im just here to say you're NOT annoying me when you scroll through my blog for half an hour (or longer, who cares) and reblog everything you like. doesnt matter if my notes are you and just you for what feels like a mile of scrolling. hyperfcoused on my blog? rad. autism/adhd are your special interests / hyperfixations? amazing. just got stuck in executive dysfunction and you actually have been wanting to do the laundry for two hours but youre still scrolling? i hope you can function that executiveness tm soon but youre amazing too. any other reason? dont worry youre good. thats all i had to say really, but i truly want you all to know this.
The thing about knitting is it’s much harder to fear the existential futility of all your actions while you’re doing it.
Like ok, sure, sometimes it’s hard to believe you’ve made any positive impact on the world. But it’s pretty easy to believe you’ve made a sock. Look at it. There it is. Put it on, now your foot’s warm.
Checkmate, nihilism.
This is a powerful positive message..
I’m literally reading a book right now (Burnout by Emily and Amelia Nagoski) that says this is scientifically sound.
There have been studies done on rats and dogs where they develop learned helplessness in the animals by giving them impossible tasks. Eventually the animals stop trying, even when the task stops being impossible. (I.e. put a rat in a maze with cheese it can’t get to until it develops learned helplessness, then put the cheese somewhere it can get to it and it won’t even try.) But once they show the animals they CAN do something - i.e. physically moving the rat to the cheese - the learned helplessness goes away.
No one can move you to your cheese for you, but the book says DOING something - which they define as “anything that isn’t nothing” can help. Make a food. Work in the garden. Clean a thing. Do a favor for a friend. Call your elected officials.
Knit a sock.
If you feel overwhelmed by existential despair, do something. It doesn’t have to be big. It just has to be anything that isn’t nothing.
This is really good advice for ADHD people because when executive dysfunction gets bad it’s easy to fall into this pattern of thinking. Do just one thing. It doesn’t have to be your homework, or a chore. It can be something small, it can be something you enjoy. But do just one thing to remind yourself that you can.
This is what “humans want to be productive” really means
We want to make things. We want to do something and at the end of the process see that something has changed. We want physical proof that we did something. We want to be able to point at something and say “I made this”. We want to be creators
YES.
The economic realities of Baby boomers versus Millennials
that comment has had me thinking for days… like im reblogging this shit a week later from my likes cus its the PERFECT analogy
You can walk in a straight line from Madrid to Shanghai without hitting a major body of water using Earth’s curvature.
Egg hatching route.
For everyone who says “that’s not a straight line it’s a curved line” please remember that the Earth is round, not flat. Here’s the line, as rendered with Google Earth:
As you can see, the line is straight!
I would walk 500 miles, and I would walk 500 more, but I wouldn’t swim a single mile
Flat eath gone get you for this one
femme power ✨ we exist
fuck instagram except for the lesbian couple i follow on there with two kids who got married 10 years ago as a “heterosexual couple” and then one night one of them came out as a lesbian and then the other one came out as a trans woman so they stayed together and now live their best gay life

This is the kind of quality gay content I’m here for
Can’t believe this one didn’t make the list
My history teacher was taking role today and did very exaggerated formal titles for everyone (ex. Ms. *last name*, Mr. *last name*) bc he’s classy like that but my non-binary arse was like “ohno uhoh” and he finally gets to me and goes Ms. *insert my last name*? And I go “here.” And he looks at me, furrows his brows and goes “is that ur preferred pronoun?” I’m like “..nah.” And he goes “okay, what is it?” And I say “um, they/ them.” And he says “alright, so what formal title would you like me to use?” Me: “uh... I dunno.” Him: “would you rather I don’t use one?” Me: ...yea. THEN: this COMPLETELY ACCEPTING STRAIGHT CIS AND GREAT 40 yr old dude goes “hm.... OH! What about colonel?” And he gets all excited and I’m like “...I actually love that.” And he goes “perfect. colonel *insert my last name*?” And I’m like “here!” And he mumbles under his breath “that’s a dope ass formal abbreviation.” & since this is the teacher the class doesn’t say a darned thing other than correct themselves w my pronouns. Then goes along w the rest of the role call like he didn’t just bless my entire life. Then for the rest of the class he referred to me as colonel.
Who else would totally relate to this 😂🔮
