You know I hadn’t put a lot of thought into her full story until they announced the “settlers v raiders’ update that’s coming out soon. I found myself conflicted, since I don’t see her as someone who would support or fight against either side entirely. SO this forced me to really figure her out. She’s 63, (entered Vault 76 in her 40s) was married once, and tho she’s wont say when or how, he did pass away some time before the war. He might have been military, which could have been her honorary ticket into Vault 76.
She kept to herself in 76, and the same after Reclamation day. After settling down, some of the younger vault dwellers that camped nearby quickly ran down a raider path thanks to Rose’s influence. Etta couldn’t quite blame them, it was a world for the wild now, she figured she could have easily gone down their same road if she was in their position. Watching her lil’ scoundrel neighbors just get by on their newbie survival techniques, she started making her routine a little more noticeable, performing a little in hopes they might watch and learn.
After some time, more dangerous raider groups started forming, she took advantage of the spooky shit happening in West Virginia, fine tuning her schedule and mannerisms to come across as mysterious as possible. Keeping the crazy, drugged up raiders at bay by being a freak was how she eventually opted to defend herself. It was probably for fun at first, but now she’s a bit far gone. With the arrival of new settlers, I’m really excited to see how she’ll fit in.
